WassOnline Live Event: Newcastle

Doc Sharpe | March 8, 2008

Nottingham, England - March 8, 2008

The latest WassOnline Live event took place in Newcastle this month, and was another raging success – members agree that they are simply getting better with every event.

As soon as they entered the casino, all of the players were greeted by the owners of WassOnline, Robert ‘MrWass’ Wass and David ‘Doc’ Sharpe. Once signed in, participants received a goodie bag stuffed with WassOnline polo shirts, the latest issue of CardPlayer magazine, a branded WassOnline poker chip (that could be used to buy drinks at the bar – a very nice touch) and loads of other goodies. Once signed in, it was off to mingle with the other members, all proudly wearing their forum names on tags, and enjoy a pre-game drink. With a six-month gap between the events, everyone is buzzing with the excitement of seeing new faces and old friends again.

The opening event of the weekend was a £20+5 No-limit Hold’em Bounty Game. This unique game offers everyone the chance to win some money, without having to make it to the final table. Half their buy-in gets placed on every players head, which means that every time you ‘knock-out’ a player, you win £10. This makes for some very lively action and table banter, as people vie to knock each other out and claim the bounties! After only twenty minutes of play, the first player was knocked out to a chorus of cheering. Others would quickly follow…….after four hours there were only ten players left to fight it out on the final table. Sue Amess, Debbie Bayliss, Mathew Doherty, Jackie Doherty, Gary Musgrove, Simon Sadler, Graham Lavender, Debbie Wass, Stephen Hoy, and Cille Mydske had outlasted 68 other players for their chance at the main prize pool, and at about midnight, took their seats at the final table. By 2am, it was down to just two players - Debbie Bayliss and Gary Musgrove. Debbie had a commanding chip stack going into the final, and the outcome was not a surprise to anyone! She took first place as well as an impressive seven bounties, winning just over £400!

The Saturday evening saw the main event of the weekend, and with a prize pool of over £1500 and some great trophies up for grabs members settled down for some friendly but serious poker. It took over 40 minutes to eliminate the first player of the evening, as everyone was clinging on to their chips.  However, one by one the players were eliminated, and either went to start their own private games, or watch the action of the main event from the sideline. Almost five hours after losing the first player, we were down to the final table of the Main Event. Debbie Bayliss and Gary Musgrove had both managed to make their second final table of the weekend, and were joined by Marilyn Sheeran, Terry Taylor, Lotte Mydske, Mathew Stewart, Andrew Barton, Andrew Ives, Tomas Morgan and Gary Williamson. Watched by a large crowd, and being cheered on by their supporters, the final 10 locked horns. After some impressive poker, and over 2 hours of play, Andrew Ives and Debbie Bayliss end up heads up. After trading the chip lead back and forth both players are all-in with Ives having Bayliss covered – barely. Ives’ pocket jacks held against Bayliss’s AJ to win the Main Event, and WassOnline had their Newcastle Live Champion!

The night ended with an awards ceremony for all the winners along with several special awards, including the coveted Spirit of Wass and Player of the Weekend awards. It was no surprise that Debbie Bayliss, with her impressive 1st and 2nd place, took home the player of the weekend award. The Spirit of Wass award went to Christine ??? who didn’t even play poker but comes to all the WassOnline events because she has such a fun and enjoyable time socializing with her friends from the forum, and support her husband, one of the more notorious site members known as ‘Welshgit’.

All in all, it was a fantastic poker weekend! Everyone had a great time, and many of the members were already making plans to attend the next live events in Birmingham and Reading. WassOnline Live Events have something to offer everyone, from the online player looking to make their first leap into live tournaments in a friendly environment to the more serious player.

WassOnline Launches Comprehensive Online Casino Reviews Guide

Doc Sharpe | January 24, 2008

Nottingham, England - January 24, 2008

Popular online gaming and gambling community WassOnline.com has announced the release of a brand new online casino review guide with completely free access.

What began life as a small site run as a hobby in a bedroom back in 2005 has quickly expanded onto the worldwide online gambling scene as a popular destination where both casino and poker players from around the world can hang out in a ‘facebook’ style community. It has since been dubbed as the ‘Internets Favourite Gaming Community’.

The thing which makes WassOnline.com so popular is that they look at their poker and casino community from the player’s point of view, meaning that they always ask themselves what the player wants. They then present questions and solutions to the members in the form of polls and forum posts so the member’s can have their say and help to shape the ever growing community. They also have a strong team of moderators and administrators on the site – ordinary members who help the site to grow and expand whilst always keeping the community values at heart.

This means the WassOnline.com community continues to develop at a rapid pace and its members, now totalling over 18,000, can make friends with fellow casino and poker enthusiasts from all over the world through forums, blogs, online chat, a 3D world, private tournaments and live poker and casino events.

Just this week WassOnline.com announced the launch of their new and improved ‘online casino reviews’ section. The new casino reviews section reviews the most important information a player needs to know before choosing which online casino to play at, including company reputation, software, security, customer support, game variety, and depositing bonuses.

Robert Wass, Director of WassOnline.com, said “the main purpose of the improved online casino reviews is to provide our visitors with the latest, unbiased and most comprehensive information on online casinos. With more than 1,000 casino’s to choose from on the internet, we know that it can be a daunting task knowing which casino is the best for you. We want to offer our members a one-stop-shop where they can find all the facts they need to know as well as all the latest gambling industry news in our news and article section which is updated daily.”

WassOnline.com has already started to negotiate exclusive bonus deals with a wide range of online casinos that are far more attractive than the standard promotions. These special bonuses will only be available to visitors of WassOnline.com.
No doubt WassOnline.com with its personal touch and dedication to the online community will continue to set the benchmark for online gaming communities for a long time to come.

WassOnline Launches Vibrant New US Friendly Poker Room

Doc Sharpe | October 23, 2007

Nottingham, England - October 23, 2007

Popular online gambling portal WassOnline.com is proud to announce the re-launch of its own US friendly poker room, WassPoker.com. Pre-registration is open now for exclusive free role tournaments and offers but space is limited.

Since its re-launch 2 months ago, WassOnline.com has been expanding at a phenomenal rate, and in their latest announcement, they unveiled their new poker brand – WassPoker.com!

As with all of the Wass brand sites, this is shaping up to be a fantastic product, and with the added bonus of being able to accept US players, it’s sure to be a crowd pleaser.

The screenshots we have seen so far show this to be a sleek, sexy site with a real community feel. We all know about the fantastic community that WassOnline.com is based around, and we are hoping that WassPoker.com maintains the same mixture of friendliness, accessibility and professionalism.

Earlier in the week, we caught up with David Sharpe, the marketing manager for WassPoker.com, and he had the following to say about the new brand:

“WassPoker is going to be a name that’s synonymous with poker communities the world over. We have kept the clean, friendly feel that we have developed over the years on WassOnline, and are also working hard to ensure that players really feel ‘at home’ on WassPoker. We are also working closely with several major forums to introduce community games and promotions for them into WassPoker, making it the hub for community poker online. Further to this, we have the backing of one of the strongest affiliate programs in the world – MoreNiche.com – which will help us to reach even more people and communities. WassPoker is the site where every player can feel at home whilst they play online.”

WassPoker.com has just opened its doors to pre-registration, and is running some great offers to all users who sign up now, including money-added free rolls and extra bonuses! The pre-registration promotions are limited in places, and filling up fast. However, that doesn’t surprise us when they are offering over $2,500 in free rolls alone just to members who pre-register – not counting all of the extra bonuses! This is defiantly a site for all poker players to get involved with.

WassOnline Re-Launches With A Dramatic New Take on Online Gambling!

Doc Sharpe | September 4, 2007

Nottingham, England - September 4, 2007

WassOnline was re-launched last month with an exciting new take on the online community – and it just keeps going from strength to strength!

When launched back in 2005, Wass was just another fledgling gaming community. However, its rapid growth and continued development have pushed it to the fore-front of the gaming communities – a position that they are proud to have achieved and determined to keep! The site is constantly changing and adapting to meet the new advances in technology, as well as the changing demands of the Wass community.

The popularity of the WassOnline site can only be put down to one thing – the total and utter dedication to the community and its members from all of the people involved in the running of the site.

David Sharpe (Known as ‘Doc’ to members), one of the founders of the WassOnline, gave us his opinion on the site;

‘At Wass, we firmly believe that poker is so popular not just because of the game itself, but because of the social networking that goes with it. We have recreated in Wass the friendliness of the home poker game, and combined it with the competitive edge of online poker to bring the best of both worlds to all of our members. People don’t just want to sit in an online poker room in silence – they want to get to know the people behind the screen names, and at Wass, we make that possible’.

Looking through the site, you have to agree that at Wass they are truly committed to their beliefs. The Wass site allows members to communicate in almost any manner possible, not only through the forum and blogs but also through live chat, of which the members have a choice of several different variations, and the recent addition of VOIP software that allows members to make video calls to each other is proving extremely popular.

The Wass members have access to over 50 private games, the majority being low-stakes buy-ins, but they are not just open to all members. For members to get access to all of the games, they have to get involved in the community. This means that at every table, in every Wass game, there are at least 2-3 players who know each other, and can carry the friendly atmosphere over to the poker table. This has the effect of encouraging others to get involved in the site, and so the site has grown to have over 13,000 members in a little over one-and-a-half years!

The members on WassOnline also speak of the site with great warmth and respect. One of the WassOnline members, known as ‘Evilluck’ on the site, gave us her opinion on the site and what it means to her and the other members;

‘I originally found WassOnline through one of their sponsored tournaments on Poker.com, and was drawn to the site as it seemed to be different from most the other gaming communities I‘d looked at when I first started playing online poker.

When I joined Wass, I was surprised to see so many members in the forum chat room, and found it very easy to make friends – in fact, most of the people that I met on my first visit I still chat and play poker with almost every night – along with a lot of other members too.

In the future I would like to see Wass running larger, more frequent tournaments, both online and live, while maintaining the tight community and the friendly, relaxed atmosphere that first drew me to it.’

So, what can we expect from Wass in the future? Clearly they will be continuing to expand the community and develop new features for the members to enjoy, as well as expanding their online presence, but how will they keep their edge? Well, they are not giving away their secrets…but you can be assured that they are always working on something to keep them one step ahead of the competition!
