Hello!
My name is Cindy and I have been writing new stories for the last 4 years. I originally got into printed journalism while I was a housewife where I used to be one of a selection of people who reviewed the news from unique perspectives (mine being a full time mum). After a few years of writing and once my second son was old enough to be attending nursery I applied for a job writing content online.
I was originally part of a large company of work at home
employees who were given stories and deadlines and I enjoyed the balance I had between
a work and home life, as I grew older I decided to expand into freelance
writing. With my children a little older now (12 and 15) I have more time to
manage my projects, one of which is researching and writing articles for

With the staggering amount of magazines, books and all sorts of publications that have been created to increase any user’s capacity to win at a game of poker, has increased the popularity of the game twofold over the past couple of years. From books on how to improve your gaming style to publications about winning a game, the focus has always been on the different styles and aspects of playing poker, since the very beginning.
The common factor in all these books is that they all tend to address the basic fact that each and every player has an individual style of playing the game. A player could be calm, cool and calculative or he could be hotheaded, reckless and aggressive. Being aggressive does not necessarily mean you are a good player, since there is a vast difference between being extremely aggressive and knowing how to play the game and when to let loose.
So, there are basically four different styles of playing poker, which are:
- Loose -Aggressive: This is the most common style of playing poker and it can be very difficult to read these types of players. When betting for big money, these players tend to go all-out! So, if he’s going to be betting on every hand, it can be extremely difficult to tell whether this player actually has the cards or whether he is bluffing.
- Tight -Aggressive: This player will usually bet only when he has an extremely good hand. Tight players don’t usually bluff or never bluff. However, when a tight aggressive player gets a good hand, then he will usually bet for big money.
- Loose -Passive: The loose passive player generally waits to see the flop instead of actively participating in the betting. This player will prefer to check or call on smaller bets just to get a look at the cards, but he will not go ahead and force the bets by making a raise.
- Tight -Passive: This type of a player will hardly ever participate in the game and will usually fold all his hands except the best. If the player does not come across a good hand, he will prefer to limp in instead of betting or raising the bets.
When playing in online tournaments or at casinos or any other live game, the tight-aggressive playing is generally the best style or strategy to adopt. Remember that your style of playing a game of poker can either win you truckloads of money at one go or can break you in one go. In reality, there is no particular style that is more effective than any of the others. An experienced and talented player will know how to play his cards as they are being dealt and will be able to adopt a certain style whenever necessary.
So, sticking to a strictly aggressive style or any particular style for that matter is just a stupid way of pigeonholing yourself into a losing game. Try to change your style constantly depending on your hand, its strength and the strength of the opposition. So, play wisely, choose a proper style, and victory will be all yours!
