The above defiintion applies to Chess and I would very much class Chess as a sport (albeit a boring one - yet highly skilled). However with poker, you could give a masterclass display yet come unstuck due to a one or two outer hitting despite the odds being stacked hugely in your favour.

You bring up some good points here Flibbs, but in clear typing what you are really pointing out here is as long as you can play the game better than the opponent and there's not much luck involved its a sport, yeah?
Like Snooker and Darts??
Like Buxon says these are sports you can
start playing when you are 30-40 years old, chess as well, you can be the Chess World Champion, smoke 30 a day and weigh more than the Heavyweight Champion of the World, not having one muscle showing on your body... ???
