I must be honest I aint read all this thread, its just too long.
The best performances by one player I have ever had the pleasure to witness was Diego Maradonna Mexico World Cup 1986. I know all about the "Hand of God", show me an Englishman who doesn't. But it was pure and simple, Argentina didn't win that World Cup, Maradonna did. He was simply awesome.
I have many other players I like, my all time favourite is probably Peter Beardsley. Always gave 100% and rarely had a bad game. Humble and honest, I believe he was an asset to Newcastle and Liverpool and always looked good in an England shirt.
