Default Double Whammy...

I am new to Live Poker AND No-Limit. I play online LHUHE, and recently I have been playing in local tournaments that are at least 40 ppl deep and it is the craziest transition I could imagine. There as so many more callers...too many people to the flop, passive play...can anyone help decipher what piece of the puzzle I must be missing...? Thanks!

Early on it is hard work as people will still see a flop as the think it is still cheap even after a 3x or 4x bb raise. Remember in most live games the blind strucutre are such that the games are basically turbo games and need to be treated as such. The live game i play regularly has blinds of 12 or 15 mins which is the eqivalent of 5 -6 mins online (but when playing omaha drops to about 3 mins online as takes so long to work out hands live then being told antomatically online)

The other guys points are very valid and I have just one thing to add, the number of hands you play, live games depend on the blind levels and tournment type...if a rebuy you going to see a lot of calls whatever the bet....freezeouts well thats slightly different and in fact if the blind structure is good 20-30 mins blind levels you can sit and wait for semi-decent starting hands if not premium....then you hammer the limpers and callers with massive raises...a tight live image can pay dividends later in the tournment, making plays with not much looks like a premium because of you prevoius play....anyone who walked into your KK or similar earlier will not want to take you on when you raise with your 34 off.....so in essence play less hands early and open your range when the blinds raise accordingly....and stay aggessive when you open a pot!
