Why Does This Happen..And What Do You Do??

You enter a tournament and get dealt every crap hand under the sun....37o 62o Q4o etc. You patiently fold, fold, fold, fold, fold and before you know it you are at level 3-4 and the blinds are starting to get higher and you know you need a hand or 2 before much too long.

You look down and see you are holding QQ. Its the best hand you have had all game and its also a premium hand. You are in a late position and there is a 5xBB raise before you and 3 others call the raise. Then 1 before you rasies allin..

I now have to decide whether to fold my QQ or call the reraise. If I lose it will leave me very short stacked. If I win I am going to quadruple up as the other 3 have all called the allin too.

Is my QQ still premium with 4 other 4 allins???

Should I call or wait??? Do I now sit and fold more rags for the next 4 levels of blinds???

I don't know why it happens, but it seems to often at least when I am playing. I think you are in a race situation other's who know more can actually clarify that. In my head that's a race though. And conditions and past history at the table decides how its played. My vote is pull a Clint Eastwood: Sometimes you gotta ask yourself one question... Do I feel lucky?

If the people before you have risen highly, and one has gone all in, you would expect them to have either pocket pair or AK AQ etc...Seeing that there are 4 people i think you stand in a good position with QQ, mainly because AA/KK are very unlikely with that many people going all in, and also if they all had AK/AQ their chances of pairs are unlikely, seeing that they would all probably have A and probably K as well.

Hope that's helpful. It's what i think, but people have their own opinions.

I think it makes a little bit of sense to me except why go allin with AK

Novi I feel your pain, I would have done the same as you except for one thing, you were 1st to call the allin, excellent call, but I would have pushed allin there and then,the 2 other players were the ones to have to make the decision now. Some you win some you lose, but it's the losses that hurt most. You done nothing wrong. xxxx

You senerio you metion happens way too much to me lately.Mrs Ditto is yelling from the kitchen that the samething happened to her last night in a game.She called and went out of the game.

Its hard folding what you might think is the winner.Its the biggest flaw in my poker game.I would have done the same too novi?

But actually you never said what you did in that hand?Or a hand like that.Did you risk it and call? or fold ? or win ?

I did say what I did do deano. I pulled a Clint Eastwood but it just wasn't my day. I would have posted what the other 4 players had and how it was won but my hand history for that game won't open

I think you should have gone all in first
Anyway as for the call it depends much on how they had played previously, if you know they're loose and often go all in maybe with just a pocket pair or something like that, then call instantly
I would have made the call anyway if I knew I had no chance to survive for long and then..... hope for a bit of luck!

I know how ya feel about this hand..I have done the very
same thing..Had some hands like that and wondered what to do.
I usually just go with my gut feeling so to speak.And sometimes
it works,sometimes it doesnt....Not very helpful info I dont
guess,but you never know what the other person has.Lots of times
they have nothing what I thought they might have..
