help with official rules required
Hi everyone, first time poster.
If the dealer accidentally turns over a/any player's hole card when dealing what is the official stance. Does everyone get to see it and the card is replaced, can the player keep it(which might sound silly) or is it a missdeal.

In birmingham we had that and the card was shown to all then mucked and another dealt. Yet when i was at the aussie millions and it happened it was a misdeal.
Peace

It pretty much is left to the house rules, but there are three or four ways to go about it...
If a single card is exposed to anyone aside from the intended recipient (or even just thought to be exposed) it is...
1. Left exposed in front of the recipient until the deal is complete, at that time it is announced to the table and replaces the burn card, the burn card in turn is dealt as a replacement for the exposed card to the recipient (note that the deal does not immediately replace the exposed card). This is common cash game procedure.
2. If the exposed card occurs in the first round of cards dealt, a misdeal is declared and cards are re-shuffled and dealt. If it is exposed in the second round of the deal, follow the procedure outlined in 1. This is common in tournament dealing.
3. a misdeal is declared (no matter when it occurs) and cards are re-shuffled and dealt. Best suited for house games and matters where time is not a significant factor to those involved.
4. If a second card is thought to have been exposed, a misdeal is declared and cards are re-shuffled and dealt, as there is no way of replacing both cards without affecting the shuffled flop order.
As always, best to seek out the house rules, or put some together before starting a game.

Key is
Most have provided their experiences which really goes to show its:
HOUSE RULES!!
no matter what the event, it truly matter how the rules are set at the particular establishment where you are playing. There are many variants on poker rules as you can tell. Even for home games. No arguments are necessary... there is no Exact way its done! Its different all over. The key is to read the house rules so you know how its done there. If its a home game, then agree how to do it before you play. In fact, you should have a list of rules. The are some standard rules type docs out there. You definitely want to avoid arguments where money is involved.
