For me, a little distraction is helpful. Sometimes I play at another site, do work on computer, surf web, etc; so my focus isn't so focused I'm betting marginal cards out of boredom. However, TV, books, etc; take a little too much attention away.

It may be better for your poker game if you do not have distractions while playing, but it's just not as much fun! I have the TV on. Do I play better with it off? Absolutely. Over time, paying close attention to players betting habits and bluffing tendencies will improve you winning percentage. However, it is a better experience overall for me if I can watch TV while I'm playing online poker, so usually I do.

disciplin discipline I DONT HAVE IT maybe first half hour do good then thats it lol kids running around dinner should get up take break but no try to keep playing and multi task WRONG!!!!!

I like to play online poker with some music playing and no distractions, i usually will turn my phone off so people cant bother me while I am working, but this is just me and i have only played professionally 5 years so its all up to the player, GL at the tables
