How to concertrate while playing poker?

the more hands you play the more you can concentrate on the game so maybe play a loose game. most tourneys are won by loose players I believe. Maybe multi tabling would have the same effect. ie no time to get bored..

Don't know , play fewer games or enter higher limit games, so you feel your bankroll is threatened. This might make you concentrate. If you have to concentrate too much, some people do not perform at their best. So I do not see anything wrong with lack of concentration at times.

I quit poker twice, before I read, an interesting book by Larry Phillips called "Zen and the Art of Poker". He talks about, patience, concentration, balance and only then action. I find re-reading the book helps me adjust to the emotional downswings.

If I have a really big tourney coming up and know ahead of time then I usually plan to put on the headphones and tell the wife no incoming calls. The children are told to go play until I'm done. The kids pay attention now because of previous wins and every time I win they get something new, so they think of it as an investment.

i usually wait until everyone in the house goes to bed to play. ...and soda. i need to have soda ready.

If there are to many distractions don't even fool yourself that you will play your best.

Only problem with that method is if I go to long in between big wins they start getting impatient lol. I always try to forget about the win I just not as soon as they do.

i think theres going to be distractions in any game and if you concentrate too hard u might get a headache.for me its the attitude going into the game that determines the way i play. i really think i play different in many games.forum games i play different from general public ones because theres more consistency in the play and the players are known. gp games i'm lucky to recoginize 1 person at my table and requires more concentration. or you might be one of those players that has to use all your time every hand this too requires concentration as to not run out of time stalling the table. so gl with the taking time like they say study long and u study wrong

I think that is not big problem. You just have to play more and you will know how and when you have to concentrate.
