After the flop sometimes a min raise is ok to see where you are in the hand. For example, if someone makes a continuation bet you might min raise with, say, middle pair and sometimes the c-bettor will fold. If he makes a big re-raise, then you didn't lose too many chips if you fold. I'm not saying you should do this often, but depending on the player, it's not a bad move sometimes. Pre-flop you might min raise from the small blind when you have a good hand like A,K or A,A and actually don't care if you get called or raised, as the previous poster said-you want action. In your case, the A,A got burned, but many times a player with a hand like yours will call a 3X BB bet also. And sometimes you will get the action when your opponent hits the flop and makes his top pair but is still a big underdog to your aces. Finally, sometimes the min raise looks fishy, like the raiser wants a call because he has a monster, which can actually encourage a fold. As always in poker, depends depends depends...You gotta mix it up, so throwing in a min raise sometimes is fine.
