Default Cake problem-

While getting the cake update yesterday,my norton 2010 and privatefirewall7.0 both popped up,delaying the update.
Since then,something happened and I get a ***failed to connect***error when I try to open the cake software.Ive tried everything,even reformatted the puter,and I still get this error.winxp pro,explorer-8 with only service pack 2.
Ive emailed cake and they say that others have reported this problem.Its still not working....any ideas?
(btw)I have a second computer,similiar to my main puter,and the update installed ok,but I had Nortonav and the firewall turned off during the update,,,thats how Im actually playing at cake right now.My main puter still will not open the cake software.

I finally got cake to run,about 11pm last night.After trying different things and talking to Cakes support all day.Since I had 1 puter working and 1 puter that would not run cake,my info may have helped narrow some things.I had to install service pack 3,and then some .net framework updates from windows update.
This info might help you,if you run into this problem.Cake gave me a coupon for a $1000 game,to play at my convenience,for sending them my info and stuff,,very cool!

WOW, great gift, now I am sorry I solved the problem myself instead of calling cake support.

Good luck with the coupon. If it is for next Saturday's $1000, I am in that one.

Sounds about right the .net framework version could definitely cause and issue.


Nice that they gave you a coupon for the $1000.

Yeah I had a simmular problem my firewall was blocking me from signing in .

Default Frustrating sometimes to update...

I updated today also, and use Outpost Security Pro as my firewall and virus scanner, and I did have to accept the change in the updated program but at least the install went without a hitch and all is well.

Glad you got your computer fixed and nice of Cake to give you a coupon. They are always looking for tips about possible problems and usually do show their appreciation.
