Super Fight has finally been confirmed. Here's the link:

LIDDELL vs SILVA OFFICIAL
Former Champions Will Square Off At UFC 79 In Las Vegas
By Brian Knapp
Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva will meet in the center of the famed Octagon at UFC 79 “Nemesis” Saturday, Dec. 29 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas. UFC president Dana White confirmed the light heavyweight clash Tuesday on Spike TV.
A potential bout between the two has been discussed for years but never materialized until now.
“Chuck and Wanderlei – two legends in the sport – will face off in the most important match of their careers at UFC 79,” White said. “Chuck and Wanderlei have both wanted this fight for as long as they can remember, and this is definitely the fight that fans have waited for years to see.”
Liddell (20-5), who finds himself on the rebound after losing back-to-back fights for the first time in his career, last fought at UFC 76 in September. There, he dropped a split decision to Keith Jardine. The soon-to-be 38-year-old relinquished his light heavyweight crown at UFC 71 in May, when he lost to Quinton Jackson by first-round TKO.
Silva (31-7-1), like Liddell, is also on a two-fight losing streak. He last competed at PRIDE 33 in February, as he was knocked out by a Dan Henderson left hook. Silva owns a pair of victories over Jackson, and a win over Liddell could vault him into an immediate title shot. The 31-year-old Brazilian has delivered 21 of his 31 career victories by KO or TKO. Silva has not competed inside the UFC’s Octagon since losing a unanimous decision to Tito Ortiz at UFC 25 in April 2000.
“Finally, PRIDE’s most dangerous striker will face the UFC’s most dangerous striker,” White said, “and the world will know after years of speculation who will win and who will lose this fight.”

Or if you know anything obout MMA......Do you think that both of these fighters are at the end of their carrers?Should this fight have taken place a few years back when both of these Athletes were in there prime?
Thoughts anyone?

NICE
I recently have become a fan of the MMA, and every time I have seen Silva fight he has been a beast, thats why I was astonished when I heard he had lost to Henderson, who was outclassed later by Jackson, I still think Wanderlei is probably the class of the sport, and Lidell is always fun to watch whoever wins here definately deserves a title shot and my money is on Silva to dominate the UFC now that Pride is no more.

Both guys in my opinion equal classy guys.......If you know some history on Silva you must not be that new to the sport. It will be interesting to see how he adapts back to the Octagon..rather than the Regular ring he was accustomed to.
I disagree with you because if Silva wins he may very well be in the hunt for a LW Championship Fight. But if Liddell loses that would be three strait losses....so even if Liddell beat Silva witch i dont think he will.Liddell will not get a Title shot anytime soon.

Chuck Predicts KO of Silva.
Heres the link to the Story

Chuck predicts first-round KO of Silva
No one was more excited by the Ultimate Fighting Championship’s official announcement that Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva would finally fight at UFC 79 on Dec. 29 in Las Vegas than Liddell himself.
"I'm very excited," the former light heavyweight champion told MMAWeekly.com. “I've been waiting for this fight for a long, long time.”
The bout has been years in the making and many believed it would never happen, including Liddell. "I thought that for a long time. I've always said I'll be surprised when it does (happen),” he said “But I'm happily surprised now and I can't wait until we get there." Now that the bout agreements have been signed and the fight is official, Dec. 29 cannot come soon enough for Liddell.
With both fighters coming off back-to-back losses, some think the match up has lost a little of it's luster, but Liddell disagrees.
"I think it's going to be a huge fight because people have been waiting for it for so long and people have been talking about it for so long."
Asked if there was any added pressure to win coming in off two losses, Liddell replied, "I'm just excited to get in there and fight Wanderlei. There's no extra pressure.
"To me, it's a chance to fight Wanderlei and put myself back in contention for a title shot. I just want to fight. I'm glad I get the first shot at him."
Silva hasn’t fought in the UFC for more than seven years. He lost a decision to Tito Ortiz upon the promotion’s last trip to Japan in April 2000.
Liddell's been in several big fights in his storied career, but none he's wanted more than this one with the former Pride Fighting Championships middleweight titleholder.
"I've always said the opponent helps what motivates you during training, and this is definitely one I'm excited to get in the gym to get ready for."
Not only does the motivation appear to be there, Liddell also likes the stylistic match up and his chances for a favorable outcome.
"I like a guy who comes at me and forces the fight. I don't think this one goes to a decision, that's for sure. It might make it into the second or third round, but someone is going out sooner or later.
"I plan on sending him out in the first round."
