Playing Premiership games abroad?
I'm sure most of the English here would have seen in the paper/on the news today the proposal by Richard Scudamore for Premier League teams to play one extra game a season in January aborad like the NFL but on a bigger scale.
Not sure how others feel but I think its a double edged sword. It would undoubetdly bring in extra revenue and make the league bigger on other shores establishing the Premierships stauts as the biggest league in the world. But would this just not be making the rich richer? The gap between the Premiership clubs and Championship would grow wider still.
Also, with the clubs/the FA moaning each year about the amount of games played, would this not be a stupid move and cause more uproar and conjestion of fixtures? And to just play one game seems unfair, even with teams being seeded.
This is being discussed by FIFA in a meeting soon and my feeling is that Blatter will agree ok to bring this in within the next 4-5 years, as long as the Premiership is reduced by atleast 2 teams down to 18, possibly 16.
I personally would side with the opinion of why fix what aint broker, but maybe giving it a try may be the answer.
How'd yous feel?

it's just like the NFL .. lets show what we have but don't let anyone else get any .. same reason Celtic and Rangers aren't in the premier.. it's the English premier League .. and if Cardiff manage to get into it I'll bet my last pound they last no more than a season.
Premier matchs at neutral grounds? .. no chance.
F.A. cup semi finals??? hmm imagine the viewing figures for Man U v Liverpool at the Nou Camp!

I am not sure of the idea really. But i think they could consider playing an FA cup semi final in Croke Park in Dublin. There would be no problems in seeling it out especially if Man Utd or Liverpool are playing in it and the players could get to sample the unique atmosphere of the amazing 85,000 stadium (plus it is cheaper to get to irelann than from one end of England to the other plus quicker too)

from what i can gather he wants this to happen around the christmas time when they already complain over too many games.i see no way this will happen as its just the premier league trying to milk more money and nothing else.and as has already happened the leaders of footballing organisations wont want that to happen.he also said the points would count towards the league which the only fair way to do that as far as i can see is for 1st to play 2nd and so on.a home league should be played in the home country ffs

Sorry, fellas.
I want to see a Premiership game come to the states, especially if its the Gunners. The NFL team plays 16 games a season and sending one overseas really hinders those fans from seeing the few games already available. The Premiership plays almost 40 games, plus the Champions and FA cup. Letting us Yanks see one or two games should be okay.

Yeah except the Italians, turks and even spanish fans cause more trouble at their own games than the Brits have done in decades.
How many fans have been stabbed outside of grounds in the UK this year?
As for the idea of moving premiership games abroad its a joke, how is this to the benefit of the fans.

It's just wrong. There's no way to do this without making the league unfair. We play each other home and away...everyone. It's not like other sports and their leagues where the teams you play are decided by how well you did last year, or you play some teams more than others. To make the likes of Derby travel to Sydney or Bangkok mid-season just to get hammered by Chelsea or Man U is a joke, and as to how they'd decide who played who..let's just not even go there. The Premiership has symmetry and that would be destroyed if these money-grubbing wankers are allowed to tinker with our game. Thankfully Blatter the Bent has said just about the only sensible things of his entire tenure on this matter and seems opposed...at least for now. This whole issue leaves a bad taste. Scudamore and those involved in this tawdry plan should hang their heads and never be allowed inside an English stadium again.

dude .. kudos on your choice of team for football but your argument is flawed .. " The NFL team plays 16 games a season and sending one overseas really hinders those fans from seeing the few games already available."
99% of football fans couldn't give a monkeys.
personally I want to see the dolphins win the superbowl but I know I can sleep at night if they don't.
I am not a season ticket holder (that costs about 10% of my annual wage!) so if they send another game away from home .. guess my answer.
maybe .. just maybe the answer has come .. I read an article a few days ago, can't remember who was quoted but.. Carling cup final abroad? ... Charity Shield?
