I remember the days...a shiny twenty pence piece in my little hand...going into the sweet shop...a quarter of kola kubes please...

now some of them sweets brings back plenty of memories... coconut marshmallows yum... floral gums yuk tasted like crap... foiled ice cups - chocolate in little tin foils like cakes yum yum... kola kubes... and the list goes on and on and on.... and this is quite coincidental but the missus took baby to docs today for a checkup as belly button cord didnt look or smell right and she comes home with some chewing gums for the kids - golden nuggets in a hessian bag - now thats class as i used to buy them all time along with the foiled ice cups yum yum yum

What really scares me is when I buy my girls some sweets these days and there isn't much change from a note

Used to like popping candy and rice paper too

Ok not going back that far ago I suppose, but the sweeties that where yum, cola bottles, the giant cola bottles that cost 5p a go!!! and then the ever so nice JACOBS MIKADO!!!!! THE JAM MIDDLE BETWEEN 2 ROWS OF MARSHMALLOW ON A BISCUIT YUM YUM YUM!!!!!

I used to get a £1 note (not coin) for my pocket money on a Saturday morning and out of that I used to
Get the Bus to town 4p
Go to Saturday morning pictures 15p
Buy bag of pick n mix 1/4 8p
Come out of cinema, into Tesco to get hot jam donuts 4p each
Get bus back home 4p
Go into sweet shop and buy The Dandy 5p
= 40p
Go home and still have money left for the week.


I give my daughter a £1 coin and she comes back with
Snickers bar 47p (small one)
packet of walkers crisps 35p

= 82p

Jack all left for the week.


Oh and Hami my favourite sweets as a kid were chewy nuts

My favourite used to be those little nobbly bits of chocolate, cant remember what it was called I think it was called choc licks though but not too sure.

I remember my sister always going to the corner shop when we was little and coming home with a big bag of bombay mix, havnt seen that around for ages either.

Does anyone remember mojo's? by the time you took the wrapper off there wasn't any sweet in it

I also used to love a quarter of rainbow crystals and a stick of liqorice, after the liqourice had gone, in went the finger until you had multicoloured fingers!

Oh, and then there was Sherbert fountains, hmmmm. When you bit the liqourice tip off and took that first long draw in, jesus i remember choking for ages, lol
