Is the forum dead or just dead quiet?

i personally see the site as dead quiet...not dead...there is activity on the forum but it is mainly generated by the brl and our weekly games....as a few have said they are/were members of other forums ,dont you see the same in these ones...i have...but the difference here is there are enough regulars to run the games....new games will always be welcomed but im afraid they will eventually be "the same old games" we play just now...ie holdem...why do i say holdem...cos the variety game attracts around 4/5 players ....this still baffles me...

My 2cents I have to agree with what Tina said, Wass always had a variety of free rolls on different sites, and since the start of Wass poker ( not saying anything bad ) my interests are only in BRL and Cake. I have been wanting to do the active members thing but havent been able to remember when they are untill its to late 1 a month makes it hard to remember and keep track................

buy-ins? is about all there is to play and I have gotten sick and tried of the bad beats outside the forum and Im not depositing for that reason,

it use to be nice to look forward to some freerolls on the weekends but thats gone so not much to read and talk about.............


But! I do enjoy reading what Welshgit is up to and that donkslayer............ interesting............ very interesting!
sometimes, about the best part of this forum lol (Im Kidding)

I think we need some something different........ change it up every so often or something. remember what drew us all to wass way back when, and yes its still a GREAT place! but it does seem different

I'm glad this thread is generating some debate, that's exactly what I wanted it to do.

As I mentioned in my initial thread, I wasn't criticising Wass either but I was hoping to get a guide on what the future was for us. This is because of the following which is indisputable.

• The Chat room is rarely used anymore
• The active member buy-ins are played by the same people
• The active membership base just isn't increasing
• The forum is very quiet, even for a holiday period. Does everyone go away at the same time?

The main point of this thread was to point out that we have come a long way in almost three years but there is a risk of going backwards, sadly in some areas this has already begun to happen.

I take your point Wendi that Admin & Mods are not there to babysit us but they have to add something to the forum, else why are they occupying their positions? Equate it to other businesses, if no-one needs leadership why do we have managers?

I thought I would get slated for this thread but more people than I expected are backing me, members with a total of over 10,000 posts are seeing things the same way as me.

Yet no-one really asks us why things are going south, no-one ever comes to us for our opinion or help. It takes someone who cares enough to put his nuts on the table to bring it into the open.

Or maybe I'm just nuts period, time will tell.

just thought id let you know your about 18 months late saying the forum is dying .

myself and others have posted a few times about it so it goes to show the forum does die occasionaly + its still here

there will always be ups and downs

its just the permanent active members wass needs to get up -

ps novi i know you wasnt accusing me of slagging off wass but i was just getting in before all the other do lol .

wass will always be here - we will always moan

the spongers + donks will always be here

the other forums are simular ( except suited who i assume we are alowed to mention now as we have so many cross forum members )

suited has so many members there forum never slows down lol .

pps - the chat room just isnt as much fun as the old one for some reason ( dunno why )

or maybe the oldies ( yes me included ) who used to run riot in chat are now concentrating on poker games more than we used to ??
when before we put chat as a priority and poker 2 nd ( i know i sometimes stayed in chat all night and didnt play 1 game of poker )
that doesnt happen anymore .

Over my time here I have seen the forum go through many a quiet phases. It seems to always happen half way through the time period between the live games. And then with in 6 weeks of the live games it picks up again and that keeps the forum going for a few months. It is a long time since i have played a forum game on any site as I don't have the time in the evenings at the moment and since dropping out of the BRL for the same reason my input as died down a bit post wise.
Does anyone have an ideas that would bring people back to the forum and into chat. If the idea is non poker related even better as I think some times we need to look beyond the flet to bring a bit of interest onto the forum that will spread into the games.
The most interesting thread of late was Xenia's one on how me felt Britian had changed and even if it did ruffle a few feathers on both sides of the debate it was a most interesting of reads.
Many be it is time to bring Sal back................................. though maybe we have not quite got that desperate yet

Just got to have another 2cents worth..................As for chat like git said a lot of us spent a lot of time in chat I very rarely played poker in those days and never a buyin, never use to deposit any site, always enjoyed chat when sal was arranging the wass weddings and, just about everything else the only thing that I don't remember sal doing was a funeral.........chat was great, but slowly people stopped going into the chat room............

As for the poker games the problem I see there is we have some really serious players but, some of us play just for the fun of it and enjoy a but of banter at the tables or perhaps I am the only one. I have just come back to playing some buyins and the reason that I have stopped before has been because a lot of players now cause a storm when they are beaten and you get called a donk but, yet they will play the same cards as you in other hands and right or wrong I think that this does cause some not to bother with buyins.........

Then you come to posting and yes we all love gits posts.......but I know my team thread has never been the same since the row over my posting and mind there are some that still moan about my posting, saying I am just spamming to get my post count up but getting the post count up does not bother me as I don't find any advantage to getting many posts. There are many times when I think I might start a new thread or answer more posts but I think no it is not worth getting into bother for, I know there are not many that moan but even one can make you feel bad.......and perhaps some of the newbies read the moans first then don't bother any more........

I agree with msm we don't need baby sitting but it would be nice for the mods to show a bit more interest in the forum.........

This is a great forum and I for one hope it stays that way yes there will always be quiet moments and busy ones but that is the same for almost everything...............and things do always change as they grow........

I see some of your guys points...but let me break some things down for some of you

1. Chat is something everyone wanted, yet nobody uses. Yet they continue to keep it. Once again it is not our job to run it. It is the members chat room. Maybe someone should organize stuff in there to do like Sal used to..im sure you all are capable.

2. There is always projects in the works..they cant be done in a day and some of you are hella impatient lol. The leagues Block are doing will begin soon....But dont think we all just sit on our butts and do nothing..there are ideas all around and they have to be sorted and discussed ..and set up...and make sure theres no problems....etc

3. Most of you dont know how much time we spend on the forum. Trish and myself are on here a good part of the day ..and on MSN to each other alot. We may not get to post a ton but we are busy trying to answer all your pms...questions...finding spammers and going through lists and lists and lists of spongers who post enough to play and run..so we have to go into each one and remove them from viewing passwords and so forth. Now I do have a life besides Wass but yet I am constantly doing stuff here as is Trish. The mods do alot of backwork also so you would be amazed at what goes on behind scenes. And I sure dont have the time to write you all a diary every day. Yes I know there are some mods who havent been around, most have good reasons..some just disappeared. We are in the process of weeding all that out right now also, another project me and Trish are on. So you see it doesnt leave a ton of time to come on and post, but we are here .

4. When everyone complains there is nothing to do and then we go back and look at numbers...there is less people playing the games, so why would we add more if we cant even fill the ones we have now? Almost all the games are everyone friendly...they usually start 4-5pm my time which means its 9-10 UK time. So thats no excuse. Hopefully the new leagues will generate more interest. And if the interest continues..the games will continue. But why pay out extra money when 5 ppl play a game? Does that make sense? I will say that we could prob think of adding a game or 2 on the weekend as we do only have the BRL. Also any members suggestions are welcome. Doesnt mean we will run 30,000 games but if something sounds good then its discussable. We cant hold your hands and make you be interested you have to take the interest yourselves..we provide more than most forums out there do. And half of you lack interest cuz you are all too busy calling each other names half the time..amd everyone gets pissed off. Get along lol..Im not your mom (mum) I cant make everyone be happy and sweet.

5. Sharpe and evil have been working their asses off on getting stuff up and running..it may not go as smooth as we would like but trying to deal with morons at some poker sites can make you crazy, but it will eventually get sorted with the occasional screw up here and there. I have a list of stuff that needs done/organized and I work on it every chance I get as I know the rest do.

Lastly I am not criticizing anyones views or suggestions..I understand you are all coming in to make Wass better as most love to be here..and we are aopen to suggestions, but like I said it all cant be done on a day. But please dont come in here and put judgement on us.

I'm not going to go into a big discussion(edit ok maybe i will),i've been know to be taken out of context and then someone gets offended or somethings gets taken the wrong way,so i'll choose my words wisely,but i would like to add to this thread in my own way if i could.

Simon i'm not sure if everyone goes on vacation at the same time,but more people enjoy this time of the year more than others and poker may or may not be first priority as it may be in other months of the year.Thats just my opinion.

WassOnline has been pretty quiet of late but i don't think it will hurt the forum in the long run.I also sometimes try and think of ways to get more activity from alot of the unactive members as well as the active ones who've been quiet of late.

Thats why i tryied to set up a Small Buyin League at Bodog.It seemed like it got alot of attention(30 possible wass members said they would play there on a weekly basis) but i never got any responses from them (Bodog)after numerous emails sent to them.So that plan of mine got squashed unfortunately.

But i'm sure things will pick up here in the future months to come,just like it always does.Thats why its up to us loyal wassers to keep it going even during the slow months.

P.S. Sometimes i log on here at Wass at 11:00 pm (Eastern Standard Time) and im the only registered member looking at threads in the forum,but there are at the same time 56 total visitors who arent signed up viewing the threads as well?

My question is how do we get those guys signed up and into the Games or posting threads?And active around here.They seem to view the thread and pass right along to the next froum?If this was the best online poker forum out there today.why arent these visitors signing up here?
