Is the forum dead or just dead quiet?

Hello Wassers!

There's no getting away from it (unless you're in complete denial), the forum is a lot quieter these days with fewer debates to really get involved in. We have been reduced to regular discussions about Welshgit's holidays and donkeys who donk the donkslayer!!

This is not a rant as overall Wass is doing OK. Wasspoker is up and running with plenty of regular games and the Live Events are superb but there is a danger of resting on these achievements.

The Rake Race has been fun but all it has proved is that only a select number of Wassers can win, in the first two months the top three was the same both times so it's not truly an open competition.

The lack of members in the chat room is also a shame, we used to be all over that place and I've only seen token gestures to try and rekindle the interest.

I did offer to run a competition around the Olympics whereby we had a different game every night and medals were handed out to the top three finishers, those placings would contribute towards a medal table based on the BRL teams with all non-BRL players counting towards a Unified Team. I didn't get much support with the reason being that there was already an Olympic promotion on the Merge network, well that promotion is pretty much the same as the Rake Race where a lot of the steps are just unachievable.

It was really a shame because I believe doing it would have created a buzz around the forum again, something I think is desperately needed to the point that I would have invested a lot of time in it and put myself on the line again.

Wass is a business and working for a Blue Chip company myself I appreciate that making money is the main objective but I want to pose a question to those in charge.

Where is this business going?

As I mentioned earlier Wasspoker and the Live Events are superb but we are seeing fewer and fewer new active members coming in, numbers in BRL are dropping all of the time and the forum and chat room are dying a slow death.

have to agree simon the forum is not what it used to be nore is the chatroom as for the games i would love to play them but without ukash on wass im stuck hopefully it will be introduced sooner rather than later until then i can only wait and hope .
your idea's of the new games seem fine to me but it's getting members interested in playing hope you have some luck

I think it is a good idea to

the promotion on wass is for the poker site not the forum and i really think the forum needs some new and exciting games as it is the same old games all the time.

There was a time where there was loads of games the freeroll on the weekend has gone, so this might be the excitement the forum needs

dont play any " wass " games any more except the 1 point for a bit of fun cos its still got idiots in it even on the final table as i proved last night .

dont play wass poker anymore as i cannot afford a second mortgage for the blackjack so unless thats removed i will never deposit there again

earn lots more money on my other poker sites

come onto forum a few times a night just to check last 1 or 2 posts lol
yes it is quiet lately but then lots of people on holidays ( i am now with 3 other forums and they are a bit quiet as well ) ..

and most newbies only post for a few weeks to get there post count up

rake race is a waste of time uless you are unemployed and have all day and night to play . and only play at wass .

as for wass earning money - havnt you learned all wass needs is numbers - if we have 20,000 members it doesnt matter how many actualy use the forum , wass can sell advertising at a better price quoting there " 20,000 members " lol

wass was nice and cosy when it first came out but like everything it has to expand to make more money + then people just become numbers , THATS A FACT OF LIFE .

Before we go attacking "Wass" Yes I agree that the forum is quieter but is that "Admins" fault.

We have a great forum here with a lot of people and a lot of regular people and its' up to us to make the most of what we have on offer. We have Private ring game tables, password protected and for our use. Do we bother to use them? No we don't. We have a chat room open 24\7. Do we bother to use it apart from for team chats\meets and chat night.No we don't. I have been a member of many a forum (14 at one time, including my own) and this is by far the best forum I have ever been a member of. We have a rake race, nightly games on various sites and Live events 2-3 times a year.


I agree that wass is a business but they have given us our own site, the rake race, with prizes, live events, private tables, chat room, a league that cost us nothing to play in yet we can win a freeroll with a cash prize....

My point is it is up to us, the members to fill those private tables up, it is up to us to use the chat room and it is up to us whether we log into this forum and post. As has already been stated a lot of people are on holiday at the moment so of course its not as busy around here as usual but that doesn't mean the forum is dying.

I am not a high roller and don't play a great deal at the moment but I have managed to finish in the prize places for the rake race for the last 2 months. So what if we don't come in first, it's jsut a bit of fun right?

I think the Wass staff are doing a fantastic job and I for one say thank you Wass for giving us such a wonderful forum with nightly games and more.

I don't recall mentioning anyones name in my post Git. I was only posting my opinion and how I have seen this thread. It comes over as a very negative thread towards Wass. This is a great forum with great people and a lot of things going on in it.

There is nothing stopping any of us regulars from grabbing each other on MSN or Via PM and suggesting an allin of fold game just for the fun of it. There is nothing stopping any of us from filling up the chat room every night. All I am saying is we the forumers should be making more of what we have here instead of being negative about it.

Wass offers alot to us...it is up to your own selves to take advantage of it. It is not our job to babysit and say hey..go to the private tables now..hey go to chat now...those are all there for the members disposal and it is up to you guys to use it. As for Brl..the numbers are dwindling because people are playing like idiots and no one can get along...has nothing to do with us. As Novi said..its a free league that top team wins a cash prize. If you dont take advantage of it ..thats on you.

There are also cheap games every single day.....Play Them. Cake has a freeroll every week...Play it. Dont whine about donkeys and newbs..they are in every single game you will ever play. Freerolls to buy ins. We all know they exist and we all know they are everywhere. You wont find one place that dont have them.


Also like Git said...it is summer and loads of people take holiday or vacations..or are just generally outside while the nice weather lasts. Come school and winter time people always come back. So of course its quiet.

And most of you should also know that Wass has been working ALOT on getting WassPoker up and getting some promotions and games for us to play. Give them a break, they deserve time to themselves also. Everyone wants instant gratification....it just doesnt happen. We will keep coming up with things...improving..like we have for almost 3 yrs now. It all takes time. Rome wasnt built in a day.

So relax..enjoy the summer...enjoy what we offer now...

My gut feeling is that WassOnline is dying slowly, we need some new life put into the forum, even Admin/Mods have stopped posting anything, I see Trish posts, Block, MSM occasionally, but I know she is tied up with the baby, but where are the others? I am hoping that they are planing something new for the forum but I don't know.
I was happy when it was announced we were to have our own poker site and thought that it was going to be the best thing since slice bread, 6 months on and I still don't know if it was a good thing for the forum. I thought that we were going to have a nightly game on Wass Poker ? not at 2am. I and others have asked for games on the weekend when there is only the BRL, the one time in the week when Wassers can get together for a game and no games?
You all know that I am a loyal Wasser but can we survive as a forum? loads of new members (30,000+)who contribute 0 to the forum, same 20/30 regular players in the buyins. How do we get new members to become more active?
I remember the days not so long ago that I couldn't wait to read the forum for a laugh and informative posts, now every day all I see is the forum being spammed for post counts.
Is WassOnline in a rut, if so where do we go from here?
I am a poker player and I want to play more with Wassers, perhaps I should retire and hold coffee mornings for fellow lost Wassers.
Simon I know that you have arranged games previously for us so if you want to arrange something then go ahead, as is Block with his League games but it must be so dis-hearting to put such time and effort in and see it fall at the 1st hurdle due to lack of support. GL.
