new pc...

...after some discussion with dori regarding my wireless router i found out my pc was veeeeery low in RAM.....i decided to attempt an upgrade.....seriously i would rather go and have teeth extracted without any pain releif than undertake this myself....i like my comfort zone when it comes to my pc...ie..no change....3 times ive had to replace my pc and every time it has taken me several weeks to become familiar with the new one...

anyway onto the story(eat your heart oot max)...the RAM i had was of the old variety...ie pre DDR......to upgrade to 1gb was gonna cost an arm and a leg and it had to be bought in 2 sticks...make that 2 arms and 2 legs......now im left with the decision to either upgrade the relic or take the plunge and buy a new one...yesterday i saw a pc which i was told was a very good buy...an INTEL CORE " DUO E6300..500 gb hd..2gb RAM..tv tuner and wireless card....it also had vista ultimate on it but only a base unit...£215.. but i was unable to catch the shop before it closed.....spent the night asking myself if i really needed this or if the old one would sufice....nope i defo needed a new one

this morning i bought my local paper and there was a pc in it ...AMD ATHALON 64x2 DUAL CORE 3600+ processor...1 gb RAM...160 hd...NVIDIA GeForce 6100 graphics card....DVD R/W...this was a complete package with new keyboard,mouse ...widescreen flat panel monitor 17"..for only £100

i decided to go for it as it will save me buying all the extras i was gonna need if i bought the other one...so close to xmas was a big factor.....one huge difference i have allready seen is the speed the pages on the forum are loading.......i cant imagine the other one could be much quicker...what do you think...

I got lost when you started talking about RAM

Just upgrade your darn comp or buy a new one I did and it works great ---- took me some time to get use to Vista and the keyboard

cille could you please read the full post beofre replying...ty.....ive bought it....and i will slow down with my posts ..well i will until i figure out how to work the damn thing...i tried to set up my msn.....i think ive done it wrong ...well unless noone i know was online.....this post is a panic post...cos im stuck..i can veiw my emails ok,and see my contacts..but this msn is different to my other machine....somebody heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeelp..

do you have this new looking msn...my old one showed up those online in green...this one aint got anyone green.....i think im goinna connect my old pc ...this stresses me oot....

Green???? My one is orange I can change the coulour Novi will help you out because I am totaly lost when it comes to msn thingys lol

I didnt think computers could get much quicker than my old 64bit machine until i had my new one. This one is just rapid. intel quad core processor with 6gb ram and 1gb graphics 500gb hd (which is nearly full already )

I think you have had a good buy there especially to get the tft aswell. Money well spent. But the other would of been quicker lol If i were you i would suggest getting another 1gb ram if you are running vista...

I would suggest to buy the Intel Machine with 500 GB HD and 2 GB Ram because you really would be more satiesfied with it and at least, this machine you can use for a longer time than the AMD machine.

But don´t forget a graphic card, maybe a Nvidia 9800 or better one Radeon 4850 or 4870 (newest one) but this depends what you are doing with your computer.

I also bought a new one but i invested in a expensive one because i love to play games so i need a fast machine and this computer now will last for next years.

But this was just my opinion. :-)
