Norway holidays

Hi everyone, hi Norvegians !

I'm happy to plan my future holidays in Norway, from July 17 to July 30.

I just wonder if we have Norvegians here, and if someone could tell me if he knows the best (and cheapest) way to rent a car there...

Please if you have a good solution to travel through the whole country from Alta in the North to Oslo our final destination, send me your answer here or send me a PM

First of all I gotta question your decision to start as far north as Alta if you haven't been to Norway before, but I'm sure you'll find out everything for yourself on your holiday. I grew up on the south coast and in the summer months, any where from Stavanger in the west to Kragero on the east is really where you wanna be. Depends what you're after I guess.

You can rent cars from almost all Norwegian airports, I think that will be as easy as any other option cuz the prices are more or less the same, unless you need a Mercedes or a Bentley for your journeys, ask at the airport if you can't drop the car of further south when you want to turn it back in, I'm sure you can.

It takes quite a while and an effort to travel the whole of Norway cuz there ain't motor ways all over and you sometimes have to take small, narrow roads between the motor ways and main roads, but its worst on the coast lines obviously.

You can't travell tru Norway without stopping by Trollveggen in Romsdalen (More og Romsdal).

Thank you evil666 and Cillepus for your answer.

We have decided to cross Norway from North to South, and no matter how many km we'll drive, we use to travel like that with my girl friend... (last Summer we were in West canada and we had a 3500 km's trip)

We have already reserved a small plane from Alta to Bodo to get faster after having seen the Northkapp. And after a 4 day's trip in the Lofotten we will take the train from Bodo to Trondheim... that will give us a nice day without driving.
