Forget Cancun.....
If your planning a trip to Cancun for any reason you may want to reconsider and just travel 30 minutes south of there and stay in Playa Del Carmen instead. Downtown had two main strips(5th and 10th aves.) with literally hundreds of shops ,restaurants, bars and clubs to keep you completely entertained.not to mention the beaches are better as well as the people. Plenty to do whether its golf ,fishing, swimming ,scuba, going to resorts for spas or using their facility for the amenities. My favorite was The Reef Club in Playacar where for forty dollars you can use their two pools or the beach,as well as enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner buffets at the poolside restaurant or the snackbar,as well as unlimited alcoholic beverages for the day. There is also a poolside bar so you dont even have to get out of the water. Where else can you spend 40 dollars for the day with all you can eat and drink and take in the sun whether it be beachside or poolside. The 40 dollars also includesfree kayaking and different activities during the day like dance aerobics and scuba lessons.

Totally agree with you on this, Cancun is perfect for 18/30 clubs/students, plenty of party time day and night but for a relaxing holiday Playa Del Carmen is perfect, and cheaper.
I recommend the Riu Hotels, think there are 5 in the area 4/5*
I stayed at the Riu Palace, they have the most beautiful church in the Reception area I have ever seen in any resort. I want my son and daughter to have their weddings there (but not yet).
I will return to this area of Mexico again

Interesting. I myself have been to Cabo san Lucas and loved it. But really want to go back to Mexico and will keep this in mind for Corey and myself since we are over 30 now

I went on honeymoon there and we stayed in the blue bay club in puerto juarez, which is 15 mins from downtown and about 20-25 from the strip,it was a fantastic hotel right on the beach with all the non motor watersports free,it had a circular bar in 2 semi circle steps so you can sit on stools in the pool and get served, which was feckin great lol, would recommend cancun to any1

I feel safer in the Tourist area's of Mexico than I do in Swansea City Center any time/day of week.
