Sort of holiday
Now that I am an Old Age Pensioner I have decided to get my life back on track.
I wake at 6am, run a bath, log onto Wass, make a cup of coffee.
Read new posts.
Load "Rise of Atlantis"
Play a couple of levels and drink coffee.
Clean teeth. Yep, I have still got some.
Bath, wash hair and the important bits.
Open schools.
Back to Atlantis for another couple of levels.
8am and I am ready for more school work.
These are both very Eco friendly schools so there are lots of re-cycling bins to empty, the fish in the Junior pond have to be fed and the bird table outside the headteachers office needs re-filling.
9.30am, job done.
Load PKR, play money games, fill glass with orange juice and a touch of vodka.
1pm and I am sozzled. Eat something. Any thing.
This has got to stop.
Did I mention the hacking cough every morning after 50 years of smoking? and the morning throw up.
This WILL stop.
After tonights BRL game the computers will stay OFF.
Smoking, drinking, and poker are all addictive, but I will start with the poker. I only play "play money" games these days so I don't need gamblers anonymous.
If I don't play with the computer I will not be drinking.
I recognise that I have a problem and will be doing something about it.
The last xenia ramble for a while.
So I am going to take a sort of a holiday

Good luck Xenia
I wish you all the best in your attempts to live a better life.
However for my own view, I think it is useful to focus on harmful habits and attempt to eliminate them and leave harmless habits alone.
For me playing online poker and computer games is mostly harmless. Of course as you seem to be saying, it can lead to other indirect harm. Inactivity, drinking, smoking. As with most things it is also necessary to keep things in perspective.
I have had the occasional row with my better half about the amount of time I spend playing poker and on the computer. My justification is that it has replaced for me the unthinking watching of TV that I used to do and that I suspect most people spend way too much time doing. I suspect they drink and smoke while doing that too.
I have recently tried to expand the activities I do and spend more time exercising and trying to enjoy the time I spend with my children more (not always easy).
It should be possible to do things you enjoy but keep check on yourself to try not to let them take over.
Good luck Andrew
Adam
