Default right2bet online petition

Hi guys, this not strictly "off topic" as all gambling fiends will find it of interest, but I wasn't sure where it should go...

Home / right2bet / Fighting for an EU citizen's right to choose

It's an online petition and campaign to alter the EU's unfair gambling regulations. Both punters and bookies alike are currently penalised in the way that their freedom of choice is restricted within the EU. This means we lose the chance to get better odds, have difficulty betting abroad sometimes, etc. If you've ever been denied the opportunity to bet on a certain website, or you've encountered problems when you've been on holiday, then you will know what i'm talkin about. More broadly, it's an example of EU hypocrisy that badly needs rectifying if the EU is retain any semblence of credibility with voters...

Obviously, this is going to be of more interest to European gamblers than others, but maybe our international cousins fancy showing solidarity with us over here? If so, you can sign the petition too!

Yeah it's my first post here, sorry about that but I don't see why it should detract from the content of the petition.

I'm glad that you're happy with European gambling law at the moment but I'm definitely not. I don't see why it is that I can't place bets with bookies operating in certain countries, or that when I'm abroad on holiday in some EU Member States I can't bet with my usual bookies there. What's all that about? It's because EU governments protect their own gambling sectors - some of them state monopolies - when they shouldn't be allowed to under EU law. I don't see why other industries should be subject to free trade (which involves painful dislocation for some people) but gambling shouldn't, just because some governments want to line their pockets. No, I'm not happy with getting crappier odds and being denied my right to choose where I bet - and that's what the petition is all about.

PS if anybody hasnt signed this petition yet and wants a more "fun" way to do so (read: fit girl, skimpy bikini, marker pen)... then see

the naked petition - right2bet. It's the same deal, to increase freedom of choice in online gambling, but you get a personalised photo sent to your inbox after you've scrawled all over her body lol

More bookies like VC have come on board with this campaign now so it should be getting much more high profile pretty soon...

And just to keep you folks updated - if there is anyone who doubted whether or not these EU laws make a difference to your online gambling experience... see Right2bet Betting Challenge: Scandal Surrounding The Playoff In Paris - right2bet daily muse / right2bet / Fighting for an EU citizen's right to choose :O Look at the disparity in odds between those gambling monopolies! Also here's an article showing the odds for the Liverpool v Man City premiership game: Right2bet Betting Challenge: Liverpool fans might be upset but betting fans should be even more - right2bet daily muse / right2bet / Fighting for an EU citizen's right to choose ...So much for "one Europe" lol!

The Right2Bet petition is gaining significant traction at the moment amongst gambling fans, operators and also in different EU Member States. They even have a tool where you can lobby your MEP directly. As soon as their petition reaches 1million, it will go before the EU Commission so I'd encourage everyone to go to Home / right2bet / Fighting for an EU citizen's right to choose to add your name to the petition now!

sure they've studied their law very carefully...
I just respect it and never bother about it.

I am satisfied with the betting laws in my country. Hey, every place has rules. You find out what they are and play by them. Just bet with a next door neighbor or go to a bar to find someone to take the other end of your bet. I know in our country people are worried about the UIGEA which is attempting to prohibit Americans from being able to transfer monies into offshore gambling sites. But where there is a will, there's a way. VISA.
