Now for the famous post i was talking about, here it goes. The thing is that i really like this team and i really like the concept of the BRL, but for some reason that i absolutely don't understand i am very frustrated and almost ready to give up on the whole thing and the reason is because of my results in the BRL, because they don't compute to my normal results in other tournies for example. It doesn't matter if i play my normal style, or go apeshit crazy loose or tight as a 4 sizes to small mini skirt...i seem to either never get any decent cards or i just get outplayed. So if i am getting so outplayed then why can i win or cash at least in a very good number of other leagues or forum games etc.Other then today when i finished 4th in BRL and in my very first BRL game when i was 13th i never usually even hit the top 25?But yet other games with alot of the same peeps involved i can do much better. Is it a mental thing of intimidation ? What can it be so i can fix it and continue to enjoy my weekends with you guys and gals.I will give you an example, just this last week i played in 2 different tournies with some peeps from here but it was for the Easy play forums, in the 2 games i played i won the first and placed 3rd in the other. Not to shabby results, and not saying i win or cash in everything i enter but i think and hope you all are understanding what i'm confusingly trying to say??Waiting eagerly for your responses...
I have seen enough of your play petey to believe that your frustrations are not down to poor play.
My personal view is that it is probably just variance. Stick with it and the results will turn around. If there are particular hands that you think you played wrong then I know you are good enough to figure out what happened and fix any weakness.
Do NOT leave the team. We need you and you are a good fit for the team and are certainly good enough to wear the GPT uniform.

What he said ...
From what i've seen of your play, Pete, you're at least as good as anybody else on the team.
NB! I said At Least as good! [<-bold, italics, underline]
I'm still getting used to this format myself. A freeroll event, with no prize money, and half dozen other people looking over your shoulder. Don't think you can compare it, or your results, with any buyin tournament or donkfest freeroll. This is a different beast entirely.
What else to say ... dunno.
Your finish tonight just proves that you handle the beast quite well!

just thought i would pop in and give Petey a word of encouragement. I feel your pain as i find the BRL very frustrating at times too for the same reasons. there is a totally different mind set needed for this game and sometimes it is not about you winning it yourself surviving as long as possible (which does my head in ) If you find it getting to you at times do what i do. Take a month off every so often or take a back seat for a week or two and give it another go. i have so many 2nd and 3rds in the game it is unreal

lol petey...i could have (actualy i probably have at some point!!!) written this....ive played brl for 3 yrs and suffered similar experiences....thing is its different to a normal mtt because its about team play....i bet you have passed many chips to a teammate who went on to win and would otherwise have been eliminated....keep going m8 it will eventually happen....

Petey hun u play great and do better than me most weeks i find BRL very frustrating as no one seems to play the same two weeks in a row or in two hands in a row. People u think would call dont they call reraises that u dont expect go all in when least expected its so confusing. I just aim to stay in as long as as long as possible to gain points for the team, and hope this is good enough. so stick it out and u will get there im very sure of it.

Thanks to everyone for the excellent replies, particularly to Alan and Step as hopefully that shows that our replies are genuine and not just because we want to be nice to a team mate (although we want to do that too lol).
I think Alan's point about team play is an excellent one. Its not a game about individual results. Its all about the team. When you pass chips to a team mate not only does it reduce your stack but it also puts someone else in with a chance of finishing above you.
Keep going petey. I will let you know if I think there is anything wrong with your play
Let's go GPT

I at times in the past struggled with this too,but no worries bro you got nothing to prove to me.I see those results you have had on other sites and for other forums.Your game is strong !!!
Congrats to derrick on getting a new job.Much luck and success to you with it !!!
I played a donkey filled freeroll late last night.Changed up my style of play a bit in it and was happy with the result i got.Bummed about not winning but hey at the least it brought back some confidence i feel i've lost lately at the tables !!! Only 85 players and a little over 2hrs of playing.I took second and $17.00

Nice one Dean.
Petey, I am glad to see you are happy to stay with GPT. We don't want to lose any of our family? Any news on those possible new team mates?
Everyone available plays as always this month. No need to put up a team list here. If you can play then you play.
We have played well this month so far. Apparently we are in 5th place but we are not out of the running for one of the top places if the results go our way for the rest of the month.
Let's go GPT

I would like to tell you all that due to the overwhelming responses about my play being decent, i actually tried the wednesday night Doyles room $50,000 bounty game with the $25+2.50 buy-in, i have never entered a buy-in that was more then $5 ever, so you could say i was a little pumped and anyways it ended up with 489 starters and i sadly went out in 50th and made $43.50 plus got my buy-in back, so needless to say i was very happy with my results because i don't think very many weak players will shell out the buy-in fee and so i feel like i beat alot of very good players, yahooooooo .....see you all in a little bit ,lets get er done!!!!
