Considering that a freeroll is free, it might be okay to go all-in on the first hand. You CAN triple up and have good odds.

However, IMO, this is double-edged blade.

As easily as it is to triple up, you can easily lose as well. You're going all-in against several other hands, and your odds won't be as high. You've have a better chance, yes, but all someone needs is a little chance.

Here's a little freeroll tip:

If you're playing in a freeroll and your first hand is big (PP's, A10 or better), go directly all in, don't slowplay or put in a small raise... Most of the time you get called by idiots who think you're one of them, and they call with K9 or rubbish like that... Great way to triple up on the first hand... You can try it again the second hand, but from then on start playing normal...
I personally love to harvest those kamakazi all in players at the beginning of a large freeroll...If I have a hand I normally would have raised with, I just limp in and sit back and wait for the fools to go all in...and I'm off to a fast start!! lol

I wait with my first all in until I have a real hand, like AK or pocket pair Jacks or higher.

Most times I prefer to make a big raise about 1/4 to 1/3 of the starting stack. So its more likely to get a caller and most times you will get a reraise on which you can get all in.

Depending to the table and the tournament, this works for the first 20 minutes up to the first hour.
