This is my 600th post and I thought I may as well use it to try to save you lot some money.
Any of you guys who are customers of virgin media (ex telewest and NTL). You can get money off your bill. You will need a bit of front but its easy.
Basically you need to phone them up (customer services) and go to cancellation. When you get through to a human, you will be on hold for a bit, tell them you want to cancel your services because you have recieved some offers from SKY and they seem to be giving you a better deal. If they ask what the deal is tell them theres a few but the main one you remeber is 3 for £26 and you know about the £11 bt line rental. I then told her I hadn't decided which offer I wanted yet because they had faster internet and Sky One was still available and I like this channel.
The lady I spoke to said "give me a minute and I bet I can keep you, I will make you a better offer than SKY."
Now I have 4mb broadband, talk unlimited telephone, and the basic tv package. She offered to up my tv package to the Virgin Media Extra Large, (everything apart from premium, sports etc.) but the clincher was the next part. She also offered to take £22 off my bill. I was reduced from £65 per month to £43 per month. The package upgrade she gave me means I should be paying approximately £75.
This is definate and I have read it on other forums. I have already done it and I urge you to do the same. They will probably reach a new deal with Sky soon over the channels, so the need to keep their customers won't be as great.

Always a good idea to barter and complain and especially when there's a war for customers. :P
I used to instal cable TV and phone and wouldn't have it given to me, (the cost is nothing when you compare the security of not having anyone able to plug into your phone or internet just down the road at the little green box)...but having greedy Mr Murdoch in control of everything isn't a great option either if he gets a monopoly going as he will really ramp up the price. He usually does monopolise things sadly.
This kind of blackmail also works for mobiles ....they have reached saturation point in the UK and they are having real trouble getting and keeping customers now.

We did exactly the same thing as Block the day after we lost SKY one.
We have/had EVERYTHING that the then telewest had to offer -
Unlimited telephone (including caller display and number with held)
Broadband
2 TV Drive boxes and and ordinary TV box (with every channel they offered including the Season Ticket for all Prem+ games) and we 'were' paying over £125 per month for it.
After a phone call to them 'threatening' to leave and go with SKY they have reduced our bill to £90 (still alot of money - but we get alot for that, especially as we run atleast 5 pc's on Broadband on a daily basis)
So the moral is.. phone 'em up and say you're leaving lol

Nice one Gary,
left this page open this mornin told my mum to check it out after id left, she gave em a call, got our package reduced from £115 to £80, plus they are sendin out another free box to put in the conservatory, plus upgrading our existing boxes to the newer version, plus upgrading our broadband to the best they have to offer.
Not bad for £35 less eh.
Cheers block

I'm glad some of you got some use from this post. I try to share info like this when I come across it. Save as much money as you can, thats my opinion.
For future reference, Branson is taking sky to court. He wants an independant body to set the prices that virgin and sky sell channels to each other.
With a bit of luck we'll have sky 1 and sports news back soon.
