Default Pocket Aces versus flush draw flop

I read a post about an hand history involving the Hero holding AA heads up with two cards to the flush on the flop. The villain had limped from under the gun and called the Hero's pot sized raise pre-flop. In the actual hand the Hero bets the pot again which was about half his remaining chips. Of course the Villain, who has a much larger stack, calls the pot bet on the flop. A blank comes on the turn and the Hero bets the rest of his chips (about 1/3) of the pot and the Villain calls again showing the nut flush draw which hits on the river to eliminate the Hero.

Most of the responses in this closed thread recommended that the Hero should have pushed all-in on the flop or pre-flop etc. In my opinion the Hero would have been better off betting 1/2 the pot on the flop. If the Villain has nothing, he will fold to a 1/2 pot bet as easily as a full pot bet and it still is a negative EV play for the flush draw to call 1/2 pot bet (3 to 1) to see the turn. Also, this is more advantageous to the Hero if the flush card comes on the turn. The Hero will save 1/2 the pot. Additionally, I have found more success in getting people to lay down their flush draws to a big bet on the turn than a big bet on the flop. In the example hand the hero only had about 1/3 of the pot left to bet on the turn which wasn't enough to chase the villain off his draw. However, had the Hero bet only 1/2 the pot on the flop, the Hero could have made a larger bet on the turn 2/3 to a full pot bet which may have had more success pushing him off his hand.

There is a slim chance no matter how he played this hand that the other player was going to fold his nut flush draw.If he had a big chip lead on him like you said he would off called any kind off bet just to try and win the heads up battle right there.

I appreciate your comment but I was speaking about a general strategy when I have a hand like pocket aces when facing a flush draw flop. I realize some people don't play poker well and will call with flush draws no matter how bad a play it is. My comment was my opinion on how to minimize loses and maximize winning. Even if the other guy is a donkey who won't give up a flush draw, a good player will recognize that and play his hand in such a way to maximize his wins and minimize his loses. If you don't like my strategy, how would play the situation?

I like they way you would off played it I was just saying that in a heads up match if the other player has a big cheap lead on you and
has the nut flush draw he is probly going to call no matter how you try and play it.Like you said you have a better chance off getting him to lay it down on the turn so.So make a bet on the flop than if no club comes all in on the turn and maby the chip leader will lay it down.If you have enough chips left to make him lay it down.
