Default Strategy works

First you have to have a strategy. Online has a lot of strategy to it, unlike live poker. There are lots of "shows" online. They show their character quite openly, completely unaware of their shows in the process. I simply love the online game as a result. You can learn their game better than they know it themselves if you really pay attention to the players actions.

Perhaps you'd care to offer some insight into how to choose an appropriate strategy as opposed to merely stating we should have one, which doesn't seem to offer much if anything in the way of help.

Strategies dont work for all. The universal strategy who works for all and all would win a lot isn't written yet and logical couldn't work because if there is a winning way, there must be a loosing donkey on the other site.
First of all u should find a game which fits best. Try to ask yourself if u like to play Multitable Tourneys, Sit and Goes or Cash Games. And try to beat these games.
Ur playing style tight or loose, passive or aggressive should fit also. If u are new to the game u should defintely play tight aggressive. With this style u should have a good start in the game, but its not the style which could maximise ur winnings.
To know when to switch gears only practise learn and no book or article can show u that, but they can point u sometimes in the right direction.

A lot of pros that have written a book changed afterwards their strategy how to play. They can adept their playing style and thats what makes them so successful over the years.

I agree there are a lot of "shows" online. But I call them "tells".

Another advantage online is the number of hands that are played. You can get a read on how a player plays his cards quicker online than you could live.

I play a lot of SNGs and find you have to modify your strategy several times in the touarnment.

Basically play tight early
Get aggressive when the bubble comes around
