To muck or not to
To muck or not to, that is the question. Mucking cards are very important in poker. Any kind of poker you play if you show your cards, your opponents can recognize your moves or your style.
Betting patterns can be online tells, if you know what I mean. Your opponent bets after the flop, he or she doesn't bet after the turn. What shall we do? Raise? or check to avoid slow playing? Pay attention to the pot and your stack.
In a tourney you have less time to get tells from your opponent. In cash game you have as much time as you want.(or as much as you can manage to)
So, now what shall we do??? My opinion is MUCKING is the best way not to get caught on bluff. Yeah, I know how good to bluff your opponent and showing 2 3 when the board shows AAK. But too many shows make your opponents angry and they'll try to catch you. It's a good tactic too but if you don't get good hands you won't be able to double up your stack.
I prefer mucking. One or two marginal hands can be shown.(Royal Flush, quads, etc.)
But what about you? What's your style?(if you tell me, write here where you play LOL)
One question, one answer:
To muck or not to.

I tend to muck the majority of my hands. If I am in the BB and get a walk and I have rags like 25o 72o etc i will show just so the table can see what they all folded too. If there is someone at the table who I greatly respect and it is just me and them in a hand and I beat them I will sometimes show. That can be dangerous though as they are now getting knowledge from me.

I normally muck all my hands. But sometimes if i have a chip lead witch is not often...i do show a few showing them that i only play my stong hands or at least make them think that a little. But only good hands.Never a bluff do i show.......or do i.
I do pay attention to wether or not other players are showing or mucking.I use that as a strategy.

i agree in most parts of your thread. mucking throughout the game gives no one any idea what your about, however i find that if you show a bluff your opponents may think that is your strategy throughout the game. but using this as a setup for your good hands pays off quite well. betting with an exceptional hand making them think that you are bluffing really does catch them off guard. ive tried this in tournaments and it works. not always mind you but enough to play it.

Wow, sounds like Hamlet's doubt...!
I usually don't show my cards, unless I make a VNH like straight flush or 4of a kind (doesn't happen often....); but I think sometimes it can be helpful, expecially in SnGs tourneys, to show your top pair or your AK after betting or raising so that you can be thought to be a tight player; this is gonna help you when it gets to the last stages of the game because when you bluff they'll think you got the nuts.
I never show my bluffes because I think it can seem a lack of respect towards your opponent, as if you're just boasting for beating him.

Firstly how true that is .Its in very poor taste to show bluffs to brag or boast. and into montanas question i show if the player has stayed with me in the betting or if i feel they have folded but would like to know if done the right thing .keep playing montana i think you will become a top player anna .
