Two Suprising Ways to Prevent Bad Beats - School and Patience
We all get tired of bad beats and when we lose the excuse we find is that the other player(s) were Donks or the cards were BAD. I am here to say that if you are serious about being good you have to put that aside and work on your game. In the beginning I had no interest in schools, books or lessons offered by the Poker Community. I thought you just put up money and played. That was a big mistake. As time went on I found school as a method of earning points so I could play in special tourneys. Now I realize that it is vital to improving my Poker skills. Let me give you two examples. As I was playing a tournament the other day I used pot odds, hand percentages, online tells and position to work my way through a pretty strong field of 4000 to come in 3rd in a recent tournament. There were 3 times that I was frustrated by aggressive players and got short stacked. In the past I would just push in with a good but not great hand and taken my chances. Instead I used patience and busted both of these players by getting great hands and using check raises. It was by far the most satisfying and one of the memorable high finishes I have had to date.
Do yourself and your game a favor and get to school and learn the P word!

In my personal opinion, i think it is better to play first, and find a style that suits you, then supplement with the endless amounts of materials available on the net. One thing i see a ton of players doing is joining pokerxfactor, and trying to copycat what they do. This is fine for sngs, as they are basically just knowing when to shove knowing when to call ext ext. But in mtt's and cash games there are so many multiple levels of thinking that could occur on any given hand. The only way to truly take your game to the next level is to find a game that suits you, and learn to think outside of the box. There are multiple ways to play every hand, you have to know your opponent first, then decide which way is best to proceed.

It is true that patience will get u a long way but it is not easy on some tourneys where blinds are constantly increasing. Liquid courage(beer) sometimes help for me lol unless i get too plastered then i am just silly.

Over the long run, bad beats will happen some percentage of the time when you get your money or chips in good. The percentage depends on what you classify as a bad beat, but as your sample size increases, the percentage of occurrence will tend toward the mathematical expectation.
You can't do anything to stop that from happening. The only sure way to prevent bad beats is never to get your money / chips in good, which is of course, a no way to play poker if you expect to win.

ah ha so that is the secret lol. patience is a good thing but some times people gotta make a move with a hand cause it feels right it is a fact of the game that your gonna lose all u can try to do is minimize the amount of hands u play and stay solid most of the time .
