Default Did I screw it up ?

Hi,

today i think i got really raped during a low stack sng. I would like to know now what you guys would have done in my position. Buyin was only 0,55$ so its not that bad but it really made me angry.

Ok here is the setup. It was a 6 player sng with 2000 chips starting money. As always half of the table was really stupid and managed to loose their chips in a few rounds. The remaining 3 players played around for about 40 minutes when it came to this.

Blind levels where 150/300 at that time and i was leading the table with 6000 chips. The other two guys had 5000 and 1000 chips. The guy with 5000 chips was chipleader a long time and really played a aggressive style. he always raised allin preflop with a pair and always raised big when having an single ace. The other guy really played slow and managed to keep himself alive a long time with a small stack.

So now to the action.

I got and was big blind. The 1000 chips guy folded.
The bully raised to 1000 from his SB.
I thought now that he might have another ace, which would be nice for me. So i called his raise and waited for the flop.

Flop was
Good thing i thought. Straight and flush seemed to be unlikely and i had a strong hand.

But the bully went allin which made me think a bit. After thinking for a while i called his allin.

He had

Turn and River where two hearts again and i got beaten. After that blinds ate me and i needed to go allin with mediocre cards. The bully killed me on my desperate attempt.

What would you guys have done ? After thinking a bit i now think that i shouldnt have called his allin. I should have waited untill the small stack went down then i would have been in payed positions.

Regards

You played it good IMO.

You had to call his all-in with aces. He got a lucky runner-runner flush. Happens.

Good Luck & Have fun at the tables!

P.S. If you had re-raised him pre-flop, he would have moved all-in there too.

Nothing wrong with your play, you had the money in for good. Also slowplaying your Aces was perfect because you know of the Aggressiveness of your opponent. And usually give him the killing blow. Dont bother to much about this hand, you played it right.

Nothing wrong with the paly at all but thats the chance you take slow playing AA. Another move you could have made was re raise his pre flop raise as you know he is aggressive, play back at him and let him make the decission.
I slow played AA to the river when HU in Wass game this week and lost it all to 2 pair. I am beginning to believe the theory of pushing Allin pre flop and hope I get one caller with PP when playing pocket AA.

I think even if you reraised him PF the outcome would have been the same - he probably would have fired right back at you, and went allin PF... 55 cent tourneys are like that -- people are a lot more loose and volatile..
