i had been setting up this hand for the last 2 hours in the 11$ 30k on stars.. i had played numerous pots with the eventual winner of the hand, but i had repopped him from the middle, and just pushing him around blatently.. i dont think i misplayed Aces but I def was setting up a huge pot sooner or later.. if i was to the winner was yet to b determined.. and this is how it went:

A quick hand anylisis shows:

A i should of made it in upwards of 2500-3000 to go pre, my explanation for this was i wanted action. this is a very quick mtt and getting as many chips as possible is a must.

B anyone using holdem manager which is about 1/2 the population at stars. is coming in with any pocket pair in this situation. Y, since i had been overly LAGGGGGY the numbers that would have apeared on the screen would of shown me to b playing almost any 2 cards from here.

Was this hand played poorly or was it just a set up gone bad?

Well, if you wanted action, I think you played it just about perfectly. You did raise preflop, but not enough to scare away potential callers. Then it went awry as it often does in poker....you could have made a big raise preflop to pick up the blinds, but that is not what you wanted. Better luck next time!

Bad luck ...
Unsure how much he would have called with pocket dueces preflop,
but no way was he folding after hitting the set.
Folding aces would be tuff to do, doubt I would have even considered it.
But in hindsight, his 20k reraise into a 5k pot probably should made one think seriously before calling ...
Dunno, bad luck i'd say.

you had enough action, and it was a great set-up, but your only mistake was to call the allin from the guy with the set. ofcoure.. he couldve had a J, but if you played with this guy, you should know if he's a tight player or not. I mean.. you raised pre-flop with your pocketrockets. The guy with the ducks know you raise, cause you have a monsterpair,AK,AQ,AJ or something like that in your hand. Why would he go allin if he didnt hit something really good? Tough decision, gl next time.

I always want action with aces for the most part, got a little unlucky with the flop. After he went all in I might have folded in fear of the set especially for that many chips. Depending on what the player has been playing would be the other thing does he/she raise like that before with top pair?
