Gambling for a living
After looking at people winning so much money in online poker and casino, young one's tend to think that gambling can be a good source of earning. So they try to deposit more in order to win big. There are some good poker players earning big bucks but somehow I feel that poker or casino can never be played for a living.

I have to disagree there, theres loads of people who play for a living, both online and live, so it is incorrect to say it can NEVER be played for a living. In my opinion People who play the game as a hobby may not be able to make a living playing poker as part of the fun is the risk, however to make a living playing a player must minimise this risk, taking the fun out of the game, maybe, and grind out the wins for hours and hours each day. A pro, who i cant remember name said, to be a proffessional poker player you have to cut out your social life.
What do others think, would like to hear?

PROPPER PLAYERS CAN MAKE BIG MONEY BUT -
I PLAY CASINOS + POKER FOR FUN - I HAVE WON + LOST BIG BUCKS BUT I HAVE A LIMIT I CAN PUT ON PER MONTH IF I AM LOOSING ,
IF I WIN BIG IT GETS SHARED OUT AMONGS MY POKER SITES AND I PROBABLY PLAY A LOT LOOSER BECAUSE IT WAS " FREE MONEY " AND THATS PROB WHY I WILL NEVER BE A PRO PLAYER LOL
CANT TAKE POKER SERIOUS ITS A FUN WIND DOWN AFTER A HARD DAY AT WORK OR WITH THE GRANDKIDS LOL
AND FOR THOSE THAT SEE ME IN THE $10 + $20 GAMES YES THEY ARE FUN AS WELL DO I CARE IF I WIN OR LOOSE - NOPE LOL ....

Making a living and making big bucks aren't necessarily the same thing. I suspect there are many players who make a living playing poker, but that not all of them make large amounts of money.
Depending where someone lives, making a modest living might mean averaging a few thousand dollars per month, which I certainly wouldn't call big bucks.

You need to understand that it can be tough to calculate your average income if you play poker for a living. It depends on what stacks you're playing, on your poker skill and your bankroll management.
Many people play poker for a living, so it requires a big commitment and can be stressful as now you are not playing it as a hobby but as a profession.

Well, Joe Cada won $ 8.5 dollars in WSOP and now it seems that many would try their hand in poker, as a source to earn some money if not as a career option. Poker is definitely an option to make a good career but interested player must have the passion for the game.
While searching for gambling as a carrer I found a nice article from *link removed* and I have sniped it.
I am sure this might help.

The basic measure of income is simply net profit divided by an appropriate length of time. It's different from someone who makes a salary of $X per year because there's no real variance in the latter except for things like getting a raise or bonus, getting fired etc.
Yes, it can be difficult if you're trying to calculate using measures like avg BB per hour. But the most basic yardstick is pretty easy.

While reading the replies, I think I have got my answer. And that is that gambling can be a career as it offer a good income if played as a profession and managed properly. Well some poker players do have great careers with loaded wallets or should I say accounts.

There are professional poker players who depends only at gambling for their living. But I feel that as a career gambling is the most stressful job you can do. A person must have good gaming skills as well interpersonal skills to be a pro in this field. Article http://www.casinoscorner.com/articles/1-general/145-things-to-do-and-not-to-do-when-making-online-gambling-a-career reflects “ do's and don't” while starting to pursue gambling as a career.
Also stay away from gambling altogether if you have any kind of addiction be it alcohol or anything problems as it
(gambling addiction) can be devestating .
