U.S. Online Poker Rooms
Thought I would do my 1st post on the subject of On-line poker sites. I have a background in computer software and systems so online poker rooms and tables are fascinating to me. I have looked at some 70 sites both USA approved and none. There are only about 10 or so distinct software packages and many of the rooms have the same games/tournaments that they share in common with just minor variations. For instance Cake is a Family Poker of rooms I like very much. This family includes Cake, Doyle’s Room, Players Poker and 10 or 12 others. I happen to like Players and Cake the best of this group because of they have quality freeroll and money Tournaments. Of all the sites I've played I happen to like Bodog Poker the best. It has some quirks that could easily fixed, but the good far out way the minor flaws. It is easy to navigate, intuitive to use with good cash games and tournament for all levels. The action is fast and fun. Give it a try and let me know what you think.

I like the Carbon sites, I guess Merge network alot. PokerStars is a top notch site for many reasons. Have to look at customer service, and getting paid is a biggy. It is only site I use the check service when cashing out (they have no fee) and it usually is in your hands in 3-4 days.
I do pretty well on the Cake sites but I don't understand why they play at such a rapid speed, they easily play more hands per minute then anyone. Add that to the rapid blind structure and it does ratchet up the luck factor as you get deeper into a tournament.
I also like Full Tilt, very good customer service and silly avatars lol.
On a lighter note, does anyone else get jilted out of there seat when someone raises on Ultimate Bet if you have your volume set to loud dammm lol.

Hope for US Poker Players
We sure don't have much choice anymore, US players are just getting the shaft, competition-wise.
There is some hope however:
Frank Unveils Internet Gambling Legislation
5/6/09......Washington, DC - Today, Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank (D-MA) unveiled legislation that would enable Americans to bet online and put an end to an inappropriate interference with their personal freedom.
The Internet Gambling Regulation, Consumer Protection, & Enforcement Act of 2009 would establish a federal regulatory and enforcement framework under which Internet gambling operators could obtain licenses authorizing them to accept bets and wagers from individuals in the United States. The legislation comes in response to the enactment of Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act (UIGEA), which restricted the use of the payments system for Americans who gamble online.
In addition, Chairman Frank announced today he is introducing separate legislation to delay the implementation of regulations pursuant to the 2006-passed UIGEA, which are set to go into effect December 1, 2009. The regulations were completed by the Bush Administration at the last minute, and the legislation will stop Federal regulators from enforcing the UIGEA until Congress has had a chance to decide national policy.

I play full ring NLHE on six sites and my best return is Bodog with Cake at a close second. These two sites have loose tables and by playing TAG you can generally win. I have never had a losing month at either of these two sites.
