Default Are they worth it??

I mean, you nearly always play for no money, just the buy-in, and you also can't change the registration time for the seat you win - isn't it just better if you win the money separately, then just buy in for the real tournament?

I really don't like to play satellites, I never won one of those... Because even if you do really well on the first one, you'll have to do really well on the next one as well, and maybe on the third one hehehe

And come on, what's the chance of that happening?

I've won a bunch of sat entries to tourneys and did pretty well. It's all about the big picture,..I think positive so I know if i can beat 70 people for a free seat to a big tourney then i can do the same thing in the big tourney....Look at moneymaker, Satellites can change your life!!!

I reckon they can be good value, look for tourneys with guaranteed seats and not many entries.... I have won a $215 seat for $2.00, and a £110.00 for £4.00... as well as an $11.00 seat for $2.00

All in all, you have to be good to win the "main" tournament.

I really like the low buy in small single table sats. On Pacific Poker (no US anymore) I used to play these $1 and $2 tables to win a $14-$-17 seat into their 10k and 12k guarantees. I ended up placing in the money frequently and even getting a first place win with some other 2nd's 3rds and final table/money finishes. All in all, if you were going to play the tournament no matter what I think a small SnG sat is worth it if you are a good player.

say its an $11 buy in and you play a 5 person 2.20 sat

As a decent player you should be able to win MIN 1/5 but more likely 2/5-3/5.

Even if you can pull off 2/5 you are getting your entry fee for half the cost which doubles your expected income if you cash. Plus breaking the bubble and winning say $22 and getting "your money back" is more valuable then before since your average tournament buy in would be $5.5

All in all, big table multi sats where you go through 6 different steps may not be worth it. What I explained on the other hand might be.

Default Sats

Well, I think they do the math so that the value is the same as buying in for the most part. There are freerolls to them sometimes, and obviously that is great value if you have time to kill. The ones you buy-in for are usually for players who don't/can't afford to buy in for full price, so let's say a 10 player $1 satellite will get you bought in for a $10 tournament. Try calculating the places, prizes, and buy-ins next time. Just the odds of most satellites are slim to none because the buy-ins are so super cheap. For the poker rooms, it's a great way to get as many people in the main tournament as possible to attract even more players, and to meet the minimum prize pool for the gauruntee.

The $2 Satellite worth it to take a shot ~ you can win a $11 coupon which can be used for the Deep Stack Satellite and for the Special SnGs (like Turkey SnG ~ Thanksgiving).
You have only 4 opponents to beat and with patience and good strategy it's not that hard.

Good Luck at the tables!
