Question The ease of ending up in the money

I'd like some opinions from experienced players please. Does the difficulty of ending up in the money increase dramatically from $1 - $10 and then from $10-$20 in sit'n go's.

The logical answer in my head is uuh yes dumbass (dumbass being me) but I started right at the bottom on .10c tables and am currently on $1 tables soon to go on to 2$ tables, I so far have spent $60 and won $77.1, profit $17.1 which is a 28% return, (maybe be wrong on % not 100% sure on how u calculate it), but it just seems to get easier the higher the buy in, it probably is because i'm getting better but I think there is still lots of room for improvement.

But the question remains does the quality of play increase that much, or is it just more people who just happen to have more cash and $1 or less tables feel like play money to them.

I'm hoping that the decrease in rake from $5 up (its' 20% for tables below $5 at cd, where i play btw) will help offset the increase in level of player quality which hopefully there won't be much of. My target area to play at is $10 or $20.

See you at the tables

Got to say that online sit and go play is better at the higher levels.

Funny thing is, live play isn't much better at the £100 level (multi table tourney) than it is at the £5 level.

Step up slowly and increase the buy in's amount if your bankroll is increasing too.
P.S. Good job!! Where do you play poker?

I consistantly play the $10 and $20 sngs. I have a higher cash and win % in the $20 sngs. I find that the $10s are very streaky, I will win 2 or 3 in a row and then not cash in 4 or 5. When my bankroll can handle it, I like to just play the $20s.

I find in the lower stake tournaments there are two main obstacles.

1. People tend to begin playing at these levels, and they'll make more unpredictable moves than expected.

2. People don't have much respect for $1 or $2. So they'll gamble more and throw money into pots that they shouldn't be in.

When you move up these people seem to be rarer and you can have a better game of poker.

Obviously you still have to contend with styles of play, some people by nature are looser than others. You will also come across players who are quite willing to gamble on longshots at the higher levels too.

When I started I moved up levels slowly and only moved up if I felt that 1. I was good enough (a few people on here will be telling me to move back down) and 2. I could afford to play it. I never play for an amount of money that I can't afford to lose.

Exclamation Stakes mean a little

I think the odds of winning are the same at any buy-in from $2-$10
Most people play the way they play higher stakes will only slow down a player who is playing in the last tourney they can afford. I personally have played people at $6 and $10 it seems the same but there are major differences between the $.25-$1 that would be people are more or less playing these sit and go's 4 fun or entertainment. 2 each his own The Clown Would Say

Prefer playing SnG to cash, so can say enough about many buyins
As concern to 1 and 2 $ buyin! the level there is not high but u need another strategy to play them. u should almost forget about ICM model and play allin on bubble only with good hands( ofcourse it depends on table and opponents but very often people can do smth crazy( i mean not taking in mind icm). playing of that kind u can get enough ROI%.
On the level 5-20$ people try to think ( ICM still works not so often but cheap leaders play more agressive and challegers not call their allin having at the table one more short stack player). the more buyin the more people play using thiese theories: ICM and ITM.
U have played 50 tournamnets with ROI 28% i think its good for buying 1$ with fee 20$ but see its only 34 cent per tournament. Should play more to get real ROI% (i mean in a distance 1k tournaments)and try to play 5.5 as soon as get 30 buyins.

to calculate ROI%=((total wins/total buyin+fee)-1)*100
-1 is if you have -ROI$
ex: 45 tournaments 5.50$ (Tallinn)
1st place= 4 times per 25$
2nd= 8 per 15$
3rd= 9 per 10$
So ROI%= ((4*25+8*15+9*10/5.50*45)-1)*100=(310/247.50)-1)*100=25.3%

ITM= in the money
ROI= return on investment
ICM= independent chip model
