The PPA is a great organization and I have been a member of it since it came into existence. Some US congressmen organized this as they are poker players as well.

Just like everything else in the USA, the government has to have their hands in the pockets of things that generate a profit. Thought this was supposed to be the land of the free? Sounds like the land of the NOT SO FREE and SCREW YOU EVERY CHANCE WE GET.

I recommend that all US players join this PPA for support. We need all the help we can get.

Junior, Thanks so much for this video view. How true. Any U.S. player out there who cares about the game, should join in and help the playing community in the U.S.
Thanks again Junior in bringing this to our attention.

I know the feeling that you may have, but it takes more than just being a member. We need to contact your U.S. Senators, Representatives. Also your state representatives in Washington. It will take time, but if we supply enough pressure the politicians may see things in a different way. Send e-mails, write letters, start a petition, whatever you can do would help our cause. Thanks for any thing you or anyone else can do.

Cool usa poker

the best way to get action is to flood all the senate and congress members with e-mail until they get sick of it and decide to do something.
filling the pc`s with e-mail and tying up fax`s with protests will drive them nuts and action should be not too far behind

Default Republicans Remove Internet Gambling Language From Party Platform

UPDATE! You might have seen this article but if not, read it

In a surprising turnaround, the Republican Platform Committee today stripped language urging a prohibition of Internet gambling from its draft platform. Considering one of the leading opponents of an internet gambling ban is former Republican Senator, Alfonse D'Amato, Chairman of the Poker Player's Alliance (PPA), a supporter of presumed Republican presidential nominee John McCain, this move is not completely surprising. It appears to be part of an effort by the party to appeal to a wider constituency going into the November election.

Anti-internet gambling language had been included in the last two party platforms, in 200 and 2004, and was in the proposed platform for this year's election. But it was removed just ahead of next week's Republican National Committee meeting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. About removing the anti-internet gambling language from the party's platform, Sen. Richard M. Burr (R-N.C.) said, "We can use this to make the tent bigger."

The removal of the anti-internet gambling language from the party's platform represents a victory for the PPA which has lobbied to keep internet gambling legal. The million-member group has been especially active this election year, spending $1.2 million during the first half of 2008 and its members contributing more than $350,000 to candidates this election year.

"This is a small victory in our determined effort to educate both sides of the aisle that there is a true constituency in America that values its Internet freedoms," said John Pappas, the alliance's executive director. It is also a somewhat unexpected move by the Republicans, considering they had been the ones to first propose language bringing the legality of online gambling into question as part of the UIGEA. Indeed, it is the Republicans who are now leading the opposition to bills currently in subcommittee which seek to clarify the UIGEA and limit its scope.

Opponents of the proposed anti-internet gambling language in the party's platform had flooded the Republican party's website with comments urging Republicans to drop their platform opposition to online gambling. According to CQPolitics.com, the latest draft of the party's platform released today dropped the language. The website indicated that, according to Sen. Burr, the Internet gambling provision was one of several smaller-ticket items left on the cutting-room floor.

"We firmly believe that if this is a big enough issue, it would be offered as an amendment," Burr said. And, indeed, there is a chance the issue could come up again when the party's platform is introduced to the full committee ahead of the vote on the convention floor scheduled for September 1st. So opponents should continue to have their voices heard by submitting their comments to the Republican Party Platform website at gopplatform2008.com.

Default Frank Reintroduces Payment Systems Protection Act

U.S. Congressman Barney Frank (D-MA) has introduced his "Payment Systems Protection Act of 2008" as part of his continuing effort to overturn the 2006 Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act. Frank, the chairman of the powerful House Financial Services Committee, has described the UIGEA as the "stupidest law ever passed." Frank saw his previous attempt to bring anti-UIGEA legislation -- the original "Payment Systems Protection Act" -- foiled earlier this year when a committee vote on his measure ended up deadlocked.

The latest edition of Frank's bill directly addresses the worst shortcomings of the UIGEA as currently enacted, which failed even to attempt to define the term "Unlawful Internet Gambling." The UIGEA's last-second attachment to a must-pass port-security bill by right-wing politicians prevented proper vetting of the language by Congress, which in turn led to the bill's proving to be all but unworkable in its present form. The new bill, HR 6870, will attempt to prohibit the two US federal agencies responsible for implementing the UIGEA (the Department of the Treasury and the Financial Reserve Board), from extending the UIGEA's reach beyond those areas specifically outlawed under previous federal code, such as sports wagering.

Frank's HR 6870 also calls for the suspension of current UIGEA code until an administrative law judge (to be appointed if the law were to pass) works with the Treasury and Federal Reserve to develop and implement workable regulations. The current UIGEA attempts to accomplish its goals by placing an unfunded mandate upon the US banking system to categorically block many internet-related gambling transactions. Besides the UIGEA's attempt to force the nation's banking system to serve as law enforcement agents, estimates of the costs to the banking system itself for implementing and monitoring the UIGEA have been shown to be magnitudes greater than those initial offered by the bill's supporters.

Frank's bill will undergo an initial markup in subcommittee on Tuesday. While well-intentioned, and certainly introduced with the support of America's powerful banking lobby, the bill faces stiff opposition from anti-gambling forces. Frank's bill has already picked up its first co-sponsor in Rep. Peter King (R-NY).

Our Government has no right to tell us what we can do with our money. We pay taxes on our money before we get a pay check. Then we have to pay more taxes when we spend the money. It is nuts.

Then we get to sit back and watch them spend it and ride around in Limos and have Wars. I can go on and on and on. Dinner partys and you would be surprised what they do with all our money.

If we want to sit back and relax in our home and gamble OUR money we have every right to do so.

USA Government are GREEDY Mafia as far as I am concerned.
Free Country.....don't think so.

Thats my opinion.
