Fighting for poker in the USA
TO ALL POKER PLAYERS FROM THE USA!!!
The Poker Players' Alliance is an organization which is trying to change the laws about poker and gambling.
I'm not from the USA but I support the idea that laws about casinos, bills, etc. should be changed.
E.g.: HR4411 U.S.Player
Party Poker lost enormous because of this law(which is not my concern)
But gambling is an industry which has to be supported. There just 2 countries in the world which own an online poker room and casino.[Austria&Sweden] Governments don't prohibit lotto...Why? It's a kind of a gambling too. It has a lot more chance to lose your money than in poker. Lotto is just luck. You need some skills to play poker:
1.You have to make the right decision
2.Show your poker face[pretend you are weak or strong]
3.You have to know how to read your opponent
4.Need courage to bluff
5.[...]More and more skills that you know

some questions...
WHO IS THE POKER PLAYERS ALLIANCE? The Poker Players Alliance is a nonprofit membership organization comprised of poker players and enthusiasts from around the United States who have joined together to speak with one voice to promote the game and, most importantly, to protect poker players' rights.
WHO SUPPORTS THE POKER PLAYERS ALLIANCE?
The Poker Players Alliance depends on the support of poker enthusiasts to succeed and accomplish our mission. Our supporters share our goal to establish favorable laws that provide poker players with a secure, safe and regulated place to play. Together, we can promote the game and keep this recreational activity free from unreasonable government intervention.
WHY SHOULD I JOIN THE POKER PLAYERS ALLIANCE?
The government is threatening to take away our right to play poker online, at home, in bars or taverns, and even at charity events across the country. The federal government and several states are seeking to enact laws that will negatively impact our ability to enjoy poker as we do today. The Poker Players Alliance is committed to defending our rights as poker players. On your behalf, we will promote and protect poker through advocacy work in Washington, D.C., and throughout the nation. The Poker Players Alliance will represent our rights as poker players and provide thoughtful legislation to protect the game.
But we can't do this alone. The Poker Players Alliance needs you to join with us to strengthen our voice. Together we can educate our lawmakers, fight prohibitory legislation, and DEMAND the protections necessary to guarantee our freedom to enjoy poker at the tables and online.
Our goal is to organize poker players to impact public policy and convince legislators to protect the American tradition embodied in the game of poker. The Poker Players Alliance is not only interested in raising money to support advocacy, we're also committed to empowering our members to communicate their views to elected officials.
HOW WILL MY MEMBERSHIP HELP THE POKER PLAYERS ALLIANCE AND ITS MISSION?
As a member of the Poker Players Alliance, you will be given the necessary tools to become an advocate for poker. Your concerns are important to your elected officials. Through your Poker Players Alliance membership, you will be able to deliver the positive message about poker and why it should be protected directly to your federal, state, and local elected representatives. You will also be updated with the latest news about the threats we face as poker players, as well as with interesting information about key issues that impact our ability to play. Our collective voice can make a difference to protect our rights to play poker.

poker alliance
hey juniormontana,
my sentiments exactly! the problem with the u.s.a. is that they will not permit something that they cannot tax, (your winnings).
sure we have casinos with the ever present eye in the sky to watch your every move, and state lottos that you can spend your hard earned dollars on, and lose. but just in case you happen to be lucky enough to win, uncle sam is there first in line to claim his share before you even see what the check looks like.
until our uncle can figure a way to tax us, to get his share of the pie, he will make it difficult for us to play online. he doesn't want the money going to some other country unless he is in control of it. that way he can call it aide to less fortunate countries.
i belong to the poker alliance and will do my part in this matter. i am glad someone brought this matter to light. thank you!

Hi guys
The poker players alliance are really pushing hard to get poker back into the States. If you are not a member, I would recommend joining - there is strength in numbers

I'm not an American, but it distresses and annoys me to see people complaining on various forums and not doing anything to help remedy the situation. How does the PPA look to the legislators when they tell them there are millions of poker players in the US - but oh, btw, only a fraction actually belong to PPA? Yes, indeed, there is strength in numbers.

987,885 members... and increasing. Not many people know about PPA. But nowadays more and more people join and that's good.
What's YOUR problem with it?

I hope all your efforts are rewarde and players from the states once again can play poker online on whatever site they wish to. I dont live there but it must be very frustrating for you all when all you want to do is have a bit of harmless fun, good luck in your efforts to make your govenment change their mind.
