Angry Absolute Poker scandal

Wow, what i found on the Internet... I was surfing when I spotted this site.
Absolute Poker Scandal - all on the AP Scandal
It explains everything about the cheats. Nice reading.

Intro:

In 2003, the company Tokwire Enterprises ENRG decided to move into the rapidly growing poker industry. They hired a group of skilled programers to develop a top notch poker software, and in this process they created what is now known as a Super User account. A super user account cannot play the games itself, but it can see all hole cards, open/close tables etc. It was created as an effective tool to quickly reveal any errors in the Absolute Poker software, and it's theoretically a possibility for most poker rooms to create such an account.

Absolute Poker has admitted the existence of this account, but the company claims that it was first created during the extensive software update which took place at Absolute Poker during the summer of 2007. Unfortunately for AP, the fact that this super account has a very low user # (363), makes it obvious that this account was created back in the days of 2003, as all user # known are higher than 363. This leads us to the conclussion that the Super User account was created back in 2003, even before AP opened their doors to the public. This is the general conception on 2+2 and PocketFives, which has contributed in revealed this case.
========================================
Potripper mainly played Multi Table tournaments, in which he lost a fortune. After the costly summer of 2006, he quit AP and wasn't seen again until the summer of 2007.

Steamroller was a losing high stakes player in both fixed-limit and no-limit cash games He also quit back in 2006 after a consistent losing streak against the sites best players. The original Steamroller resided in Miami.

Doubledrag played no-limit Holdem, and despite several decent, winning sessions he ended up a big loser just like the rest of these accounts. After his last session, he verbally bedamned A.P., sworing never to return.

Graycat played fixed-limit Holdem at a limit where he was brutally squashed by his opponents. He quit around the same time as the others. The former Graycat resided in Chicago.

I liked this article as I have heard a bunch about the scandal ~ just bits and pieces, never read anything it so I didn't actually know what the scandal involved other than cheating. Thanks for putting this up.

This tickled me though:
The report state everything everybody already knew, and brutally punished Absolute Poker with a $500.000 fine, and running inspections for the next couple of years.

Now please $500,000 I would hardly consider that brutally punished. The writer was going for dramatics I guess ~ but to me that appears to be a slap on the wrist. And inspect them for a lifetime ~ once someone gets wind that the cookie jar is accessible usually there is a lot of interest in that cookie jar.

If Potripper had played at Poker.com, he would have been beaten with his 10s in the 9th hand. LoL

Yes, it's a very low fine. If you consider the fact that how much money the cheated out from other players...

Quote:
Players from the $1000 tournament Potripper won have been compensated with their $1000 + 50, but it's clear to everyone that this is just the top of the iceberg with all the money the super user has been able to squeeze out of the High Stakes players at AbsolutePoker.
How can they punish these guys? I mean their account has been removed. And?

If memory serves, this Potripper account was in fact played on by an A.P. company executive. I'm willing to stake my BR that next to closing the account/blacklisting they fired the guy

May be wrong here but i believe at least 2 of those accounts were former employees, not people who were still employed by AP. They seem to have recovered just fine. Traffic isnt any less then it was b4 these instances.

yep this is old news,i can remember it going down, but ap told everyone about it,and moved on.i think they eliminated the super user acc,if my memory is correct.,the idiot got caught by playing high-stakes ring game, and bragging. The guy said a little too much to the opponent, and a guy complained.A person recieving the complaint sent the loser some info, and it was on then!

$500,000 seems low when considered just by itself, but remember that there were also massive reimbursements to all players involved in all games potripper swindled. I didnt read the posted article above so I don't know if it is in there but I had read previously that there were reimbursements to the tune of several million dollars. I think the scandal was a good thing overall, it shows that not all sites are cheating and if there were cheating we would find out about it and hopefully other sites would handle it as professionally as absolutepoker did.

The actual tournament was posted on YouTube,a while back showing all the hands and I believe it was one of the founders of the site that was using the super account.
