the good the bad and the ugly
been away for a bit playing higher stakes, to me any way.been playing ring tables for a while now the good
started with 50£ about 95$ played long and hard starting at 25/50c working my way up ending up on 5$/10$ with $1200 on my table and about 800$ in my bank. dealer gives me pocket aces so being under the gun i checked hoping someone would raise. so player helps me and raises to 200$ next player folds and next calls. nice one all in me, both call so 3600 in pot they turn jj kk respective no 1 hits although it was close for a flush 4 spades on the table no 1 had 1. came off with just over £2000.00 nice night the bad
different night, same as before worked my way up got to 5$/10$ built my stack up to $1800,00 but nothing in reserve stupid me, kept thinking 1 more hand, 1 more hand then bang cant even remember the hand (try to block it out) i'm all in the guy hits quads gutted. should have came off and changed tables leaving my self some back up.instead the whole 1800 is gone. the ugly
well the ugly thing is now i keep chasing all the time and cant win a bean, my game has gone down hill, my patience out the window, all my decisions are wrong.
so i am having a break for a bit going to read the forum play some no pressure poker with the wassers and see if i can relax and find my game.
look forward to seeing ya all at the tables, go gentle with me.

Well fleagle you call your problem by different names. Just narrow it down to one! Let us call it money management (or bankroll management).
Then look at ring games over all! At ring games the blinds do not raise so you you can wait for the nuts to show. There is no need to chase. Let the other players get drunk is another rule to use.
I personally will only bring a maximum of 10% of that poker sites bankroll to the table at one time. If I lose 50% of that amount (5% of over all poker site bankroll) I leave and reevaluate my play. If I double my amount brought to table I leave ( I want positive results to stay positive). I use hit and run tactics when having a successful day. Sit at one table watching your buy-in yo-yo up and down is not smart in my eyes.
Besides I want to stay fresh and alert when I play!

Since it's pretty easy to move money around to wherever I may need it, I don't subscribe to the idea of managing my bankroll on a site by site basis. That said, I take a rather conservative approach to my bankroll as a whole. While I'll put every cent I have at a particular site into play, I'll never have more than 5% of my total bankroll on any table at any time - and usually less. For tournaments, I don't buy in for more than 1% of my total bankroll - again, usually less.
This approach means I win less that if I were to ut more (or everything) in play when I'm running run hot. On the other hand, I believe it has been a factor in my never coming anywhere close to going broke.

You played in limits where you arent suposed to be.
Poker money should be money which you dont need for living or something else.
Never! Never! Never bring your complete bankroll to one table. You can also play roulette and choose black or red. 5% of your poker bankroll should be on risk at max at one table.
Its hard to play the micro limits once you have played for "big" money but its a hard lesson to be learnt. Dont think in Dollars, just think in Bets or Blinds.
Sometimes, if you fell very confident and your bankroll allows it, you can just take a little from your poker bankroll and make a shot on a higher limit, if you loose that get immedeatly back to your limit where you suposed to be.
Invest some money in good poker books, they are worth it.

falcon and cow hit the nail on the head it's all about managing your bankroll,,no more than 10% at any ring table and hit and run is definitely better than sitting at same table

The other thing which has not been talked about is your emotions! You got to keep them in check. If you manage money, cards selection and your emotions it should help you allot.
Some times you have to take 30 or more seconds to make your decisions. Which you should try to do all the time. That way the good hands you will play the bad and ugly you can stay away from.

On thing you might want to keep in mind is that since you say you play a high variance style, you should adjust your bankroll guidelines accordingly. For instance, the 5% guideline - i.e. never have more than 5% of your roll on a single table - is for someone with average variance. In order to adjust for the larger downswings your style will produce, you may find 3% is more appropriate.

no limit you can lose your money very quickly so amateurs should be playing in limit games but if you have confidence you can win...by all means go ahead haha
