Is poker a sport?

You can drink while playing darts, snooker and pool. Plus i remember when I was in Uni playing in the internal football leagues the half time refreshments at times were alot stonger than isotionic drinks

of course it is a sport.but can think of a few other sports where you can drink.bowling for one.

i keep asking myself dat same question lol,people ask me if i play any sports an i say yeh i play paintball games etc and poker..lol..and they say thats not a sport LMAo then i say aww mustbe its just an addiction and yeh ive been pissed and trippin playing paintball,dont think i'll do playing poker though lol

I had this exact discussion with someone the a few days ago. They say poker is not a sport because you don't have to be fit to play it. I say you have to be mentally fit to be at the top of the poker tree. They say its a game not a sport..................Maybe, Maybe not. I am pretty divided in what I think

you dont have to be fit to play darts and that is a sport in fact most dart players r over weight, snooker is the same and that is a sport,

i will say poker is it has a very big following and people actually go and watch the finals so i class it a sport

I wouldn't call poker a sport. Sometimes there's a fine line between a game and a sport, but in my reckoning poker is a game.

Well, poker is shown on sport TV channels, so i guess it must be considered a sport..
Anyway, I've always thought it involves skills, concentration, training and of course luck just like every other sport, and it is as funny and exciting as sports can be, so why not call it a sport...

It's a game to me and when I classify it as such I don't mean to take anything from it, it's not a dig in the least. I just can't consider it a sport. For those that classify it as a sport that's great and I wouldn't even think of arguing the point (to each their own) because time spent arguing the point could be better spent at the tables

You can't seriously think Poker is a sport!!

Sport involves some sort of physical exertion, even darts and snooker players have to walk around a fair amount.

It's a strategy game, no different to chess in a lot of ways. Even a Grandmaster with an IQ of 200 couldn't persuade me otherwise.
