I have been watching the 4x100 metre medley both men and women.
My question is
Do they have to swim in a set order ie. Butterfly, backstroke,breaststroke and then freestyle.
I know they all swim out of their skins but tactics could help.
Why not do the freestyle first and get a commanding lead. Then do the other styles in the order that suits you.
In cricket, we have the hand switching, throws the bowler totally.
High jump, the Fosbury flop. New winning style but was contoversial at the time.
I am sure someone will be able to answer.

yes they have to swim in that order. mind you it has changed because they used to start with the backstroke so im not sure when it changed

it changed years ago cos doing the backstroke first the poor fekkers couldnt see where they were diving into backwards
and when they got to the turn backwwards they were all getting a headache hitting the wall and couldnt swim anymore

Anyone see the men's 4X100 free relay.....OMG WHAT A COMEBACK!!!! I couldn't believe the French world record holder CHOKED!!!!! Love it. Eat your words frenchie....
Olympic swimming is a great show for sure..I get up at 4-5 a.m. to watch the finals due to China time zone, but it's worth it!
It was just really disappointing for me to see Federica Pellegrini just 5th in the 200sl final after getting world record this year.....
