Wahooo I won and still bouncing!

Well it all started after the August 2006 tournament, when unfortunately due to money and being a bank holiday weekend I was unable to attend but after seeing the pictures and the feedback knew I had to make the next one.

And there it was posted in the forum February 07 live event in Liverpool, that was it, double checked the dates with the better half and booked the flights, hotel and train etc…I was on my way. As this was Oct/Nov I had a long wait.

The day dawned (well the sun hadn’t quite come up!) 16 February 2007, 6am the taxi picked up the better half and I, and we were on our way to Liverpool. A short flight to Manchester and an hour train journey to Pool and we arrived at the Marriott Hotel at 10:45 and managed to get ourselves an early check in. Quickly unpacked and headed into the city for some food and a look round. A look round being a visit to the Rat & Parrot, The Hogshead and a couple of other bars I forget the name of lol. Back to hotel for a power nap and the taxi arrives at 6:30 to take to the Derby Pub.

Arriving at the Derby was a little nervous, hadn’t met any wassers before and damned if I could remember faces from pictures on forum lol. Bought a pint and heard a shout from the table behind me, "Its DannyKeano, hello, hello...I’ll pass you on to Chick, don’t understand you"…with that walked over and introduced myself…there was Danny, Chick, Hamish, Ceall (which B&B you stay in again! Lol) …then the rest arrived … Stephen & Emma, Dogma, Flibbles, Welshgit, Mr Wass, Doc, Jay, Events, Cille….too many people was overwhelming lol.

We all wandered down to casino after paying Sal some money, surprised he didn’t do a runner lol (just joking mate) and eventually signed up…. An hour and half later got to sit down and play the bounty game.

Can’t remember much about this game, think the combination of beer and tiredness got to me lol, I just remember that I managed to take 3 bounties to cover my buy-in and seemed to drink a few more pints lol. Congratulations to Gaz for winning it. I had a small bet on Norwich v Chelski with Hamish and he was kind enough to give me a 2 goal start…waste time that knew I was on a loser lol. The missus and I left at 1:30am feeling tired but exhilarated from meeting a great bunch of people and made to feel welcome by everyone.

Spent Saturday sleeping in and wandering the town before having an excellent meal at the hotel and meeting up with the wassers again in The Derby for a quick pint and a chat. Then I heard about the fight! Trust me to miss all the action lol.

Then we were heading back to the casino for the Main Event. Signing in was much quicker and the game started around 9:30ish. I was in seat 10 table 4…seat 10 dealer!!! Oh shit lol.

Was an interesting table, comprised some good players and included the hyper-poster that is Cille and my own TUK captain Dogma!

The game started, I was nervous having to deal…hope I didn’t make too many mistakes guys and found it difficult to remember when it was my go! Lol.

The game started with some solid play with not too many bad beats. Managed to deal Cille trips twice though lol.

Being dealer was fun but I found it difficult sometimes to work out my own position and after a few bad raises and calls by me...against better hands I might add…I found myself posting a big blind of 1200 with only 200 left….whoops. Chris Gill raised utg and dogma called all in…I chucked my remaining 200 in to the pot and the hands were exposed.

Chris had AK, Dogma 88…. mine 6 2 o/s great…flop 2 7 J (think) turn 6…and sorry Dogma…river A…back to 3600ish.

A few lucky hands later saw me at the final table with 7000 in chips, not the shortest stack but bloody close…best bit though was no more dealing for me!

Three hands in Cath made it 4000 to go and I looked down at 77. Knowing I had to make a move I pushed all in for my remaining 7000, everyone else folds and Cath calls, showing AQ…flop A, seemed to take an age to see next card…7 x, and I double up to 14k with the trips. Made a few more moves and got to 25k and then the bit that’s going to get me banned from the forum…Mr Wass and I go at it lol…

1. I raise with AQ, Rob re-raises all in AK…I call lol he hits flush on flop and rest board only makes me trip Q’s….nice one Rob
2. I remember beating Rob with AQ not sure what he had…
3. My blind steal of 12k from sb is re-raised by Rob for another 9k, I called with 78 (feel little guilty sitting here now typing this) Rob I think had K9…I hit 2 pair taking him out.

Then there were 4, me and the 3 ladies, no chance of a read there then. Play progressed and Cath finished a respectable 4[suP]th[/suP] with Emma making a brilliant 3[suP]rd [/suP]place. Left Jupitie and I heads-up in the battle for the championship.

Blinds were swapped, a few raises here and there, I then decided to call an all in with k10 off. Jupite doubled with A6 (I think) holding up, this left me short, I then doubled with KJ v K5 (again memory a bit lapse) and we were even ish. Blinds swapped a few times again and Jupite made a raise, I looked down saw pocket 8’s and pushed, Jupite called and made 8’s hold to win the championship.

Photos (looking at them I got to lose some weight!) and money followed and was the end of a brilliant weekend.

Was a brilliant weekend and enjoyed every minute of it, sorry if i rambled on a bit but had to be done lol

wtg steve you played a blinder i thought for sure you were out earlier against the boss and then against emma lucky son of a gun lol but there you go with river.com lol mind you you wernt the only one over the weekend lol i cant remember how many times i heard that being shouted out lmao

heads up game was great shame it didnt last very long would have loved to have seen more of it but hey you won and thats the main thing and a nice little boost to your pocket too
