WUKPT (Wass UK Poker Tour)
Ok, after a few discussions it's become pretty obvious that the Live games held around the UK are very popular so I have suggested making them a bit of a fixture. I'll put my suggestions and anyone who has an idea or thought on this then please don't hesitate to either post or pm me.
Firstly we could start this off with the Newcastle game as the first official game with the title WUKPT if there are no objections. Keeping the buy-ins etc as they are.
Following the Newcastle game the Main Event Buy-In would be increased.... This will be polled but I am suggesting a build up over the course of the year to a £50 buy-in where we could also hold satallite games online for seats to this. Satallites could start with $5 buy-in giving on seat for every 5 entrants to final main satallite qualifier $25 buy-in and here there would be 1 seat to Main Live game for every 4 players in this. This way we could have fun online and a bit of a build up to the Live game. The Live games would be set-up with help hopefully from people who have done this before and those with access to grosvenor casinos as these appear to be the best ones to use for our needs.
So a possible schedule would look like this :
Feb 14th-15th £20 14th bounty £20 15th Main Event Newcastle
May 10th-11th £20 10th bounty £30 11th Main Event (TBA)
Aug 16th-17th £20 16th bounty £40 17th Main Event (TBA)
Nov 15th-16th £20 15th bounty £50 16th Main Event (TBA)
I'd also like to suggest we take any extras out the total buy-in for Casino/Tips/and any other incidentals.
Working on 'rough' numbers of 75 @ £50 inc. fees/extras this means we'd be looking at a total prize pool of approx £3,500 lol
My final suggestion (for the moment lol) would be to break the prizepool down so that lower places make 3 times the buy-in at least.
So I'll post a poll for people to vote on for the Buy-In to Main Event. Keep in mind that we can run satallites also to this. We would leave the current Friday night bounty game as-is $10 prize pool $10 bounty.

There is no way I could afford to play these events. Nor would I want too. I save for these events because I am on a limited budget and as others have said its also the cost, arrangements, time off work for some people, sorting child care etc... I don't think it should change. I think it should stay the "social" event it is and not turn into a "poker Tour".

No one is suggesting that you have to turn up to every event, as for paying the buyin to the main event... i think what chumley was trying to suggest is that we set up satellites to the wass main event and thos that wish to take part in the main event and want to try get their seat booked via a satellite then you can do that pre event... any winners would have their seats booked already and any moneys collected would be saved up by wassonline and kept until the said event...
Personally if i was able to satellite myself into the main event and not have to fork out say £30 - £50 on the actual day then that would have taken a burden off my mind and means i would not have to budget to play the main event... I am like others in that i am on a budget and will have to save money to go.. plus on top i have 6 kids to pay for.. travel to newcastle wont be cheap.. hotel/ b+b wont be cheap plus then spending money and also buyins will push my costs towards the £200+ just for 2 days.... Bearing all that in mind if i was able to supplement the cost by winning a satellite to pay for my main buyin then i would be over the moon
How does that sound now to those that are budgeting for this event or for future events? As i said you do not have to turn up to every live event as that may be a struggle for some, but when you are able to go and you can win yr stake prior to the tournament that sounds great

There is nothing definite about the amount for main buy-in, hence the poll. It would still be a social gathering of wassers, I for one wouldn't want it to change from that .
So if £20 is the amount most chosen then fine I have no probs with that lol.
As the post and welshy has stated we'd also look at running satallites online.
All this is doing is trying to arrange a regular live game for wassers...once every 3 months, people can come or not no different to the current live games we have, i.e. if you can't make Newcastle then you can't make it.
The maths on the satallites for example are:
sub-satallite $5 x 10 players (conservative) = $50 which then = 2 seats to main satallite.
Main satallite $25 x 20 = $500 = 5 Main event seats paid. (based on £50)
Some people might not come to a Live game now because £20 is too much, however, if they got a seat for $5 (£2.50) it may get other wassers there that would otherwise not be.
Basically sub-sats give 1 seat in 5 to Main Satallite which in turn would give 1 seat paid for every 4 entering. Which isn't too bad odds I think.
These are suggestions only.... wether it's called 'WUKPT' or 'Tiddlywinks meet' it's a bit of fun that Wassers can have on a regular basis and come to. Some people might not be able to come to Newcastle but 3 months later would love to come to a different one and would be able to.
Basically all I'm asking is what amount for the Main Event Buy-In, how often wass have a live game is pretty much irrelevent, no different to now. Personal circumstances always dictate if anyone comes now or not so future games will always be the same no matter who it is.
Thanks for your input, anything positive is also welcome lol

I think the satellite games are a good idea but as for 4 live events that's a no no I'm afraid for me, Stoke cost me roughly £350, Newcastle is prob going to cost £450/500 as I will prob have to travel up on Thurs, and I cant afford this 4 times a year. I don't think you will get many doing 4 weekends a year. A hard core 15 I suspect.
