A few thank yous
I would like to thank a few people for the Reading weekend, so in no particular order:
Tash - When we got back to the hotel on Friday night she was still getting peoples rooms sorted for them. After being told there were no rooms left Tash managed to not only get them a room but also get it at the discounted price, even though the offer had long since ended.
Tash (again) and Craig - We travelled to their house on Thursday and spent the night there. Excellent hosts and even better friends, we love you both.
Scotlady - As usual Jax helped me on the forum. Assisting our friends from PDC that wanted to come to support the event, as a lot of them usually do. Also helped people book there rooms when they were struggling to do so. She also put people up for a period of time and helped to make it an extra special weekend for them.
Mrs Welshgit - Everyone who has attended a live event knows that it just wouldn't be the same without her. She is a true diamond.
Rob and Dave - They support the event every time with trophies etc. And obviously if they had never set this forum up, we wouldn't be having these live events.
Johnathan and Eva - The two people who ran the cardroom. I think everyone agrees that the rest of the casino staff were pretty poor, and thats being polite. Johnathan and Eva were an exception. I believe they enjoyed the event almost as much as we did.
Sue - of course, how could I forget my rock. The day in May when she had to calm me down cos I was informed there was a little bit of bad news about Reading.....its cancelled. Then sitting talking through a battle plan with me before I spent 45 minutes on the phone talking to the casino manager and rescuing the event. In the words of dogma and hami......Happy Days.
Everyone who attended - Some peoples efforts were greater than others, as at all of the events. Everyone of you that attended the event made some sacrifices to be there, and at the prices at the bar, probably spent quite a lot of money.
We have a bunch of quality members here at wassonline and as always it was great to see so many of you again.
Thank you all and roll on the first Live Event of 2009.

Do you think he plans it all out, or just makes it up as he goes along?
I agree 100% to all those people Block - the biggest thank you to Tash and Craig, after such a busy week moving house, they really went out of there way to transport us and be kind enough to put us all up, especially me, Thanks again Tash and Craig.
Huge thanks to you too Block for all the work you put in yourself, without you there was a chance we never had a live event.
Great weekend and Thanks to everyone else, you all made it one to remember.

Great post Gary, although I do believe the biggest thanks should go to yourself. We all look forward to these events so far in advance and they never disappoint, so much so that the minute we say our last goodbyes we are thinking of the next one.
What I appreciate the most is that the 'Southern softies' called for an event down here and so many of them calling for it didn't make it there. This must have been very frustrating and worrying particularly when the casino were raising concerns about minimum numbers etc.
For this reason I'd be happy if we don't go further south in England than the Midlands for at least a couple of years, if you look at where most of us come from only the Taffia (Trish apart) and a few of the Wass.commers live down here and if we were all honest we would travel to the North Pole if that was where the next Live Event was being held.
So thanks Gary and roll on the next one.
Simon
P.S. Word on the street is that Eva did come looking for Wayne at the hotel on Sunday morning but wasn't sure if he was in Room 162, 222, 229 or swimming in the Thames!

I totally agree with others and their comments (hoys in particular LOL). Thank you Gary for organising the event and for putting so much time and effort into making sure it all runs smoothly. I agree too with Simon with what he says about the southerners not bothering after asking for a Wass live event to take place in the south. Lets keep them up north in casinos that we have been too before and where we know the staff can smile and be polite and don't tell Andy off for being a wee bit too loud.
I also agree that Tasha, Craig, Jax and Mrs Git all did loads to help people as always and to make sure we all had somewhere to sleep and to leave our cameras. Last count I think Mrs Git was holding at least 10 digital cameras.
Wassers are wonderful people and great friends and I for 1 am already looking forward to the next live event.
