Well I wasn't going to say much about the Spirit of Wass Award we were so gracefully given last weekend.But i think my speech was very weak and totally unprepared and actually come to think of it,cant even remember what i said that night.So i'd like to say a few more things now if i could.
First i can't explain the rush i felt when our names were called.I'm sure everyone knew it was going to be us who won.But honestly i had no such knowledge of it actually happening(that's why we were in the back of the crowd).It was a pure shock indeed,and later at the hotel room i couldn't stop talking about it.And had the biggest smile on my face for like 3 days after winning it.I felt like such a SuperStar.
But thinking back on that night now.Something i would have loved to add into my small speech was that.This award has had some memorable history to it.And i'm happy to now be apart of its history.
It doesn't matter if we ever make another Wass Live Event or not.I just have to thank everyone who decided the winner to be us.But remember this Wassers the true Spirit of Wass comes from all of you dedicated Members.
My only decision now is who am i going to select to present this award at the next Live Games?I was told by someone i can't remember who,but supposedly the winner of the award presents it to the next person to win it.Anyone interested in presenting it at the next one?I have a few people in mind.So let me know?
Very nice guys..congrats and very well said. Glad you guys got to make the trip over..I may get there someday lol. So now i know a few Us ppl that have went over so Im pretty sure its safe as you all have seemed to comeback lol
Well I would suggest you pick your friend Jo to present it for you as she was such a wonderful friend to you both.
And hopefully I/we/someone lol...can set up a tourney here in the Us sometime soon..maybe set it for late 2009 or early 2010..and u all can come and present the first US Spirit Award.

Nice speach Deano. I too can't remember much of what you said at the event. But it was good and you have just followed it with another good one.
I decided at the Reading event that we should attach a little piece of tradition to the award, told Rob and Dave my idea and they thought it was good. Every trophy that we present is won at the poker tables, except the Spirit of Wass Award. I approached Mrs Welshgit with the idea of doing a "handover". She was more than happy to do this, and did it very well to I might add.
I then reallised that there is a good chance that you and Kim won't be at the next event, baby Gary is due in March right? So I suggested that you select someone to represent you at the next event.
A little bit of info for you too mate, I think a lot of people "suspected" that you two were gonna get it, but very few of us actually knew you were. We try to keep this award a little under wraps so that everyone gets to find out together. That way I personally think the award keeps that little bit of mystery that makes it special.
Again, very well done to you both, very well deserved.

I would definitely be one who could help you organize one MSMA...in fact doing a little research now on some places and also looking into some booking arrangements just to see if it would be possible for a smaller venue for us wassers in the future.
As far as a list of people to present the award in 2009..emm i dont really have a big one.I would definitly have to think about it some more.But the short list as of right now would be Novi(the strong favorite)of course and also Mrs.Welshgit.Both these ladies are amazing and it would be hard for me to choose between the both of them
P.S. Yes Baby Gary(lol) will be in the way of the next live games,and like Alan said "I never do say never" so we'll just see what the future brings for The Ditto's.

That was a very nice speech hun. I'm thrilled to hear that a ("Wass welcome to the otherside of the pond") live event is in progress. Casino Niagara would be kinda cool since it's right on the Canadian/U.S border and the airport is right there. Hotels like crazy and bonus: can see the "Falls" of honeymoon capital while playing poker with fellow Wassers. But hey, I'll go anywhere on this continent ( and hopefully someday even further) just to meet up with a few Wassers. xox
