I am new at this team play but another way to do this player off the month thing would be to have each team pick there own player off the month and than the captain can post there team member that was picked and post that players stats for the month in this thread and than you or who ever can Look at all the picks from each Team and decide who the player of the month is.
Just an Idea I had and thought you might be interested in.This way might give you less headaches

So perhaps removing the percentage requirement from the point total list would have any effect at all.
The top point scorers will in most (if not all cases) be the ones that play the most games. The 60% was in the title because I copied and pasted it and forgot to delete it.
For me if you manage to outscore everyone that has played all the games and you have played less games (especially less than 60%) you deserve a real medal not just a virtual one.

I have 1 suggestion w.r.t. the tables (and I think it was part of the previous table system but not sure) and that is you could add a Saturday and Sunday top average category which would help those who only play on those days as then they are more likely to play 60%+.
So my suggestion would be:
Top average Saturday
Top average Sunday
Top average overall
Top points overall
I know this would be more work but I think more people would be included in this scenario (so more work... sorry) and again this would allow players from the bigger teams to get included too. This is mostly just me being selfish as I tend to only play once a week... ... although it seems in January I must have got a special pass from the missus to play twice at least a couple of times and I'm top of the 10 points average! WOOHOO! ... but it would include more players too so it isn't just for me... honest!
Excellent idea dippyda.
It is not a great deal more work as I will just add some additional totals columns to the spreadsheet I am using. Once that is done I will still only have to add the match scores once after each game and then let the miracle of computers do the rest.
I think there will still have to be a minimum number of games played to 'qualify' for winning the average table for that day. I think it will need to be a minimum of 3 games (most months have 3, 4 or 5 weekends) simply because 2 games doesn't really seem enough to be setting an average from.
I will re-work my Jan09 figures to show a separate Sat and Sun table as well as what is already there before I do Febs figures as I need to get my master spreadsheet right and then I can just copy it from month to month.

great stuff daz.maybe it would be better not to award a medal and just keep it for the interest of the stats themselves so people who cant play enough games for whatever reason dont feel like they are missing out on somthing .also that way if they feel really strong about it maybe they could do them themselves and for the all others with less n1 keep em coming

sorry that I did not reply earlier to this thread Darren, but I was kinda busy and my mum is also in hospital for a knee operation ... got the phone call yesterday that the specialist has a broken arm so she has to wait until the doc has recovered LOL
as for the individual rankings and player of the month awards, I still got the old charts from 2007 when I started - I classified the players ranks in 2 categories: overall score and average score
to qualify for the official ranking, the players had to participate in at least 50% of the monthly games and all points had been summed up - at the end I made 2 top 20's with the highscore and the average score, but only the highscore got awarded the "player of the month"
the charts are pretty similar to the sheets from Trish for the team scores as you also need the results from each game ... but the manual work to sum all individual scores up is painfull and takes a tad time lol

Thanks for that Christian. Hope your mum is better soon.
The adding up of the scores are all automatic as I have set a spreadsheet out that does the work for me. I only have to type in the finish position for that date against the players name.
With regards to the awarding of any trophies, that is up to wass/mods/admin/trish. I am happy to just do the stats so that people have a way to check how they are doing from time to time (sometimes I feel like I am having a good month and the stats are a way that helps to compare if the facts match your feelings).
I could do with some advice on how to get my tables to copy into the forum. I copy and pasted from excel before and it looked fine until I saved it and then all the table settings disappeared ?

Higher = Better.
Best possible score in Average Points is 100 (this would mean that you finished in 1st in all the games that you played in).
Best possible Total Points is 100 times the number of games played in the month (e.g. 8 games in the month = best possible score is 800 points)

as Trish said, if you want to upload it you may need to copy the chart out of the Excel Sheet and into Paint + save it as jpeg and publish it afterwards via photobucket, imageshack etc
but there is also another option, for example you can upload the spreadsheet to google documents and share it afterwards, you could post the link in here and they can browse through the complete spreadsheet online
the reason why it does show up correctly in the preview but gets totally out of order is basically because of the forum settings and there is no possibility to change it so that the chart is displayed correctly, i have tried that last year with the help of Dave and Xan but to no awail
as for the finishing position and adding up, yes I used the same system but I did not copy it game after game, I usually took the weekend games together afterwards ... it takes a bit of time though
if you want, you can send me your sheet and I will have a look - I try to find an old one from me and post the link here so you can watch as well
