Have to admit that I am totally sober at the moment.We have a woman who is supposed to run the ICT suite but she asks me for help. Anything serious they employ an outside team.
germanfalcon suggested the aeriel and now you suggest a dingle,dangle, dongle thingy.
I will try the Control panel to see if there is a utility to block other signals.
I am using Windows and it usually displays 4 available networks.
1 is my Netgear which should connect automatically, 2 are WEP encrypted and the last is an unsecured site that keeps popping up with no signal.
Sorry to disappoint trish will have to add "WTF?"

Xenia, I am sure that between us we could sort this oot, praps over a beer or two, online one day when we are both not too busy. Do you live at the school, or is this a laptop that you move around? I feel that the unsecured weak signal is a red herring and is not your problem....

Or bring the laptop to reading, get pissed with some mates, play poker, and one of the nerds, I am sure, will sort it out while you play, having knocked out their AKss with J2 os or summat.

Thank you for your suggestions and comments.
As I said in the first post it is a connection problem. NOT a reception problem.
I can pick up 8 signals from here, so I reckon my system is too good.
Think I have it sorted now.
Went to Internet connections and then view Wireless networks within range.
They were in the wrong order, so I moved the interrupting network down and my Netgear up.
Please close this thread down now as thick xenia is happy with his fiddling.
