May Day Promo
Not sure this promo really helps out many players or even makes it an incentive to try for many players.
I mean how many people will actually manage to clear 250k comp points in a month? Being a recreational player I might manage to hit the 10k comp point mark, if i really try . But i figure 25k points might be possible if I gave up work and played a couple tables at the stake my bankroll will allow (not much!) but 50k and 100k points no point even thinking about making that level lol.
The other tasks on the list should be fairly easy (already completed task 8 lol) but comp point restrictions make it a no goer for either "fun players" or those with a low bugdet or restricted bankroll.
It will be interesting, if ever released, to see the number of people who cleared the total bonus...not many i would imagine.

Out of reach for so many because folks have to live as well as try and squeeze in as much poker as they can. I guess they felt like the promo would encourage folks to play more and didn't consider that we all know we spend a considerable amount of time playing. I play the rings daily, granted el cheapo $.25/50 but I still see even with the double comps it takes a bit of time to qualify for the 50k. The folks who set it up are well aware of the time involved and they set the bar in a manner where it appears they are giving you something/rewarding the players but they know they aren't really offering anything. It's a shame I was really looking forward to it and it could have been a blast if they would have dangled a carrot that wasn't rotten

As has been said before about previous promotions, most are for the high rollers and that is because Merge is a business and they are in it for the money. It doesn't matter if we (the low rollers) are here day in day out playing as much poker as we can, It doesn't matter that we are all loyal to the merge network and we have all promoted in our own ways, via blogs etc. This is a business and we can like it or lump it as far as the promotions are concerned

I completely agree with you all folks, it is very tough love. On the flip side though the Merge network still have a very generous bonus structure already with the $1k/$2k/$10k/$50k freerolls not to mention the Refer-a-friend scheme and the Comp Points store.
I've played on many sites and most don't go close to offering the player loyalty rewards that Merge does, so you won't hear me complaining (I'll just mutter under my breath!!).

Hi guys
Once again here to offer the other side of the argument...
If you complete all 10 levels, you earn a total of $2,100. This is in addition to bonuses, free rolls and the WassPokerShop...it's simply not feasable to be able to offer those sorts of promotions without making them hard to attain...
I do belive with the promotions that Merge offer as standard, plus the WassPokerShop, plus next month we are doing a special rake race, plus the big bonuses we do offer a hell of a lot to everyone!

Oh i agree Doc and not expecting stuff for free, no point running a business like that.
However my main point was that to complete all 10 tasks within the month is unattainable for the majority of players (in fact looking at the higher stakes games most of the players on the merge network) therefore what is the point of the promotion? It does not encourage more players to the site which i thought would be main objective.
As for merge network bonus....well other people have already posted about this subject...and having to e-mail support every time for a re-load bonus (please note re-load) is a little bit of a mute point. If you re-load at a site and enter a re-load code surely you should recieve it from the site you re-load at and the network shouldn't really matter. If people are re-loading then they are generally losing and therefore the site is collecting thier rake and therefore increasing profits. Of course you have to earn comp points to clear your bonus (no problem with that) and i haven't worked it out but i imagine the site (network) don't lose in the long run.
Yes the freerolls are an incentive but again these are paid for from collected rakes and are not entirely free as the site has already covered the cost.
Please note this is not a dig at Wass, I was just trying to figure out why the merge network put on a almost unattainable promotion for most of thier players. I would prefer to have seen limited reduced rake on the cash tables or half price fees on sng's and tournments, this benefits all players and the network would probably pick up more players as a result. (Just a thought).
There are some great tournments since Wass has had its own site, the bounty games and promotion being just one and the introduction of shoot-out tournments being another.
Again not ago at Wass just voicing an opinion and i will happily continue to play at Wass Poker.

The fact that these sort of promos have 'steps' usually mean that most people could attain the first couple of rungs on the ladder (ok it's a stepladder now). I think they're designed to encourage everyone to play a bit more than they would normally, to chase the next higher step. They're never gonna be set up so everyone can reach the top step. Yes they're aimed at attracting more high rollers, but i do think there's a bit in them for everyone. You can look at it like they're screwing the little guy (or gal) or you can look at it like they're trying to grow the site to make it a better place for us all to play. I'm not denying anyone's right to an opinion on this btw, but without even bothering to go after this promo my glass is still half full.
