What is "Deal It Twice" about?

I sat down at a $1/$2 game tonight at WassPoker where it said that "Deal It Twice" was available. What the heck is that?

i believe when it gets to an allin position with 2 players left as long as there are still cards to deal you can deal em twice if you both agree.

Half the pot goes to each deal. so effectively you split the pot in half, first deal the winner gets the half pot then deal again for the other half. (only undealt hands mind)

I don't understand what the purpose of dealing it twice is? Is it sort of bad beat protection for a pocket pair or what? Do you recommend using this option? Just trying to learn.

I was watching a game last night from the WSOP (not Main Event), it was a final table and Rolland DeWolfe was allin and I heard someone at the table say 'deal it twice' but they never did and Rolland was out. I have never come across it in a game myself.

as Barty said, this "deal it twice" option has been a new feature on the merge network and if there is a showdown on such a featured table, you can chose to deal the remaining cards twice - may it be preflop, after the flop or after the turn

the cards are shown and the pot is divided into 2 parts and the winner of the first and 2nd hand get the part

this option is offered to minimize the risk to lose all the stack involved and is usually in charge at the High Stakes Poker games from the pro's at the big hotels and you may have seen it on "High Stakes Poker" from FullTiltPoker - I remember a big pot where the river has been dealt 3 times ... well Jamie had KK and hit the set on the turn and Patrik Antonius hits the str8

they went all in and we had a 750k $ pot ... first Antonius wanted to run it twice but than they agreed to run it 3 times - first hand the board paired for Jamie ... 2nd hand the board paired for Jamie ... 3rd hand the river blanked and Antonius didnt lose all of his cash - he offered to deal it twice first and would have had lost all on that

but well, normally there is also more money involved and they also have fun games and challenges like "who picks up 2 7 and wins the pot gets 500$ / 1000$ from each other player on the table" - so far it did not happen but had been funny to watch
