Default What is a bad beat ?

I know what's a bad beat. But my question is : At what point do you guys consider you got bad beat? Is it when you have 60%, 66%, ...?

For EXAMPLE, would you say A-2 suited vs 10-9 suited is a bad beat ?

Default WHat is a bad beat?

I think thats a very good question. How unlucky do you have to be to call it a bad beat.

From a personal point of view I would have said when you lose with anything over 80% chance of winning the hand. But I have no idea really.

I think this question is basically "what is the difference between getting unlucky and getting a bad beat?"

lol.... if your playing online poker....there is no such thing as a bad beat....if you honestly believe the odds are the same as a brick and mortar game you better stick to the play chips.

I agree with villarge that around 80% is right. To me 60% or even 70% doesn't take into account the unpredictability of the game. No matter the odds, anything can and often does happen. They don't call 'em "miracle cards" for nothing.

Personally, I tend to base a bad beat more on my opponents cards. Should he have even been in the hand in the first place? Do his cards and the board justify calling my raise/all-in? If the guy is a donkey playing "Any-2" poker, it's gonna feel like a bad beat regardless of the odds.

Well said !! Its the " any 2" players that do my head in more than anything in poker.. You find them in every game, even forum run games and that will never change.. Sometimes you just have to wait them out and hope that you get a monster hand to take them down on.

As for when would i call it a bad beat - any hand that beats me is a bad beat lmao

Welshy hit it,...online players that play any and everything, taking down KK with J-4( just because it's Suited), hand out the most bad beats. When i look at a bad beat, I look how the whole hand is played and then judge it on that.

I'd say if you were 90% favorite. That's what I consider to be really bad, and those are the ones I think about that drive me crazy.

90%!?! So you're basically saying that A-A vs 2-3 is not a bad beat... I can't agree with that

The RNG in live games is called the dealer and as a dealer yourself you know the live beats playing live are just as brutal. Some of the worst bad beats i have seen and suffered have been from playing live. i have seen AA vs KK vs QQ vs 77 vs 44 with a flop of AK4 with a Q on the turn that was a total carnage hand. And i have been beaten so many times with AK vs AK to the 4 card flush from the board.

Never say never, cause anything can happen. Case in point, the ULTIMATE BAD BEAT was served up in this year's WSOP. Quad Aces defeated by a Royal Flush !!! And both hands were made on the river !! It doesn't get any worse !! Check it out.
