Active Membership
What is an Active Member, and how do I become one?
What is an active member?
An active member at Wass Online is considered to be a member who has actively taken a part in the community. This is done through posting on the forum, taking part in chat, and using the community features such as the blogs and user profiles. Also, participating in Wass Online games and representing the forum in competitions like the OFC are a great way to become active.
Once you have been made active, you must remain active too to keep your active status.
What benefits do active members get?
Being an Active Member you gain access to restricted "Active Member Competitions". These competitions usually have fewer players and higher prizes than our regular games. The active members who play these competitions regard them as some of the best poker they play, and the standard is high, as is the chat room banter! These games are password protected or restricted list protected, and the only way to get access is by being an active member.
The Stages of Activity
There are several different ‘ranks’ that you can achieve in Wass Online. How you progress through these ranks is explained in more detail below:
New Member - Can play in special select tournaments
Aces (Member) – Can play in some Wass Tournaments
One Pair (Member)
Trips (Active Member) – Can Play in All Wass Tournaments
Straight (Active Member)
Flush (Active Member)
Full House (Active Member)
Quads (Active Member) - Special Tournaments for Quads and above
Straight Flush (Moderator)
Royal Flush (Administrator)
How to become an active member
The easiest way to become an active member is to simply just get involved in the community. Post in the forum, get involved in chat and play in the Wass Online games – all of these things will soon see you get to active membership!
As a general guideline, to be an active member, you must have been on the site for about a week, have more than 10 posts, and have had at least 3 people vote for you. However, this can vary and is only a guideline.
What are votes/user reputation?
The user reputation system is a means by which users can rank each other, and shows you how popular you and other users are in the community.
All ‘Aces’ or above are allowed to give or take reputation from other users. User reputation has 15 different levels:
{User}is infamous around these parts
{User}can only hope to improve
{User}has a little shameless behaviour in the past
{User}is an unknown quantity at this point
{User}is on a distinguisehed road
{User}will become famous soon enough
{User}has a spectacular aura about them
{User}is a jewel in the rough
{User}is just really very nice
{User}is a glorious beacon of light
{User}is a name known to all
{User}is a splendid one to behold
{User}has much to be proud of
{User}has a brilliant future
{User}has a reputation beyond repute
Whilst your reputation does count towards active membership, it is not the deciding factor.
As you become more involved in the Wass Online community, your voting ‘power’ will increase. For example, a member with 500 posts who has been on the site two years will have a more ‘valuable’ vote than a new member who has been on the site 2 months with 25 posts.
Passwords
As mentioned above, one of the main reasons to become an active member is to benefit from the extra games and tournaments. Usually, these games are password protected.
Passwords are posted in a section of the forum which is restricted to active members only. If you check the calendar and there is an active member tournament on that night the password will be found in the restricted sections, clearly marked on the forum.
How to Lose Activity
If you become an active member it is important to remember.. if you stop being active you will lose your status and the privelges that go with it! You will have to start again.. earn your way back to Activity!
If you are an active member and you are caught sharing the passwords with friends or un-active members both you and your friend will be banned from future active status.
Any Active member seen to be abusing other active members or members to extreme levels in any Wass games will be removed for the list and activity at administrations disgression.
Allowances are given for circumstances such time off - Holidays - Illness - Computer Problems…
There is a section dedicated to Holiday / Leave in the forums, it will help to keep your active status if you notify us of intended breaks etc.
What We Don't Want
We do not want or need people to be..
Spammers,
Spongers,
Moaners...
Posting on the forums aimlessly in hope of getting fifty posts to join our games then never posting again - that ain't happening!
Do not beg other users for passwords it WON’T HAPPEN you will risk getting banned as mentioned before.
